What don’t they cry about? They were trying to get me to say something mean about Trump earlier in this thread
“I voted for him 5 times!! Now say something bad about him for one time!!!”

Not without blowing up the bond market.

You’re in a thread with a bunch of never trumpers
And they are whining he temporarily lifted tariffs. morons.
Here's something for you smoothbrains to understand;
I'm not happy about his lifting selected tariffs because he has given away leverage for nothing in return. China has done nothing it influence this move.
I like the tariffs. I do not like his putting us in a weaker position.
"temporary" is laughable. He'll look even less competent if he puts them back on. Not to mention the fact it is something you came up with, out of nothing, to defend him.
I thought Bonds was a bit sharper than Pvt. Pyle. Guess not.
Certainly has zero negotiation skills.

That's not a forever thing but more to the point, what were we going to be financing our debt (old and new) at this year? Next year?
I think the shite we're in was made every one of the last 25 years. Trump tried something different and the only result may end up being the can can no longer be kicked down the road.

quote:Nah. That's your (and many others) projecting. I like a lot of what Trump is doing. I don't think Trump is hte wanna-be-dictator, racist, etc that democrats say he is.
Your perspective, as many others around here, is viewed thru a TDS skewed lens.
But, I don't hero-worship him. He's wrong on tariffs. I can point that out with "having TDS". You insistance on a purity test... is the derangement going on here.

China is fricked if they cant sell to the American market

It’s how negotiations work.
Giving up things for nothing is how poor negotiators work. However, the US didn't give up anything because of the negotiations with China, they gave the exemptions in negotiating with third parties not principals in the negotiations. It was appeasement to companies and people in the US and gives a clear signal to China about our ability to weather the pain. Our position is weaker than it was yesterday, and we gained nothing from the Chinese.

You don’t think they can be reinstated?
Sure they can. That is not the point. When you cave early you can always go back and demand X, Y, and Z again but you have laid part of your cards on the table already then that demand will carry less weight the second time around.
It appears to anyone with any level of objectivity that there was capitulation and in a case of brinksmanship, appearance and perceptions are as important as actual resolve. Be mindful I don't think anyone is suggesting he caved to China, that is incorrect. He caved to entities in the US.

"Soon" is a relative term but broadly speaking, I'm wondering about this. Something tells me we might be in for a surprise.

He should be banned from handling the economy.

If we were smart we'd be busy as crap deleveragng, retiring debt, and cutting spending like crazy. Painful, but easier than after a collapse dictates the terms.
Tariffs are more popular than spending cuts, tho. So here we are.

The salient difference is that the comment was directed at me personally. I rarely have the time or inclination to knight for others that I think are present and feel they are perfectly capable of defending themselves, and rarely care if they aren't.
It is also telling, despite multiple posts in the thread, you have not once engaged with the merits but rather bounced around the periphery dolling out jabs and high-fives.
