Idiot
I might have up to 10k in cash on me at any time because of work.
You are such a fricking simpleton

Your response is overly emotional and based on 1 example
1 example?
Bounkham Phonesavanh was 19 months old when a SWAT team burst into the home he was in, throwing a flash grenade into his crib. He was severely burnt and permanently disfigured, but survived. The police were looking for a relative of the baby (who wasn't even home at the time of the raid), but didn't bother to do any reconnaissance before actually raiding the house.
John Adams was killed by police during a SWAT raid based on bad information. The idiotic police trusted what a couple criminals told them and raided a house without checking if information was correct first. John Adams thought it was a home invasion when police burst into his home unannounced, after sunset, and exercised his 2nd amendment right to protect himself, his wife, and his property. Police killed him for that.
There are countless similar instances where police have killed law abiding citizens. I could list many of them here, but it's not my job to educate you. You're retired, so you have plenty of time to educate yourself if you desire. Or you can choose to remain ignorant. Your choice.

...the fear irrational, and the last sentence based on a strawman.
You and I are both more likely to be killed by police than ISIS. We spend billions fighting ISIS. We should spend even more holding bad police officers accountable, but we don't even spend a fraction of that amount.

Accidents happen..some tragic. This is one of them.

It’s amazing how many people right here in this thread prefer to live in a police state where one is to obey the government authority 100 percent of the time
You stop when the police tell you to stop, if they are in the wrong there's ways to elevate it afterwards. Running from them is only going to get you a second forehead and a crooked nose though, deservedly.
Who the frick do you think you are?
I'm not for anarchy and criminals doing whatever they want but you are a boot licker and gave up your freedom a LONG time ago to a kid with a badge and a gun who took a test after graduating high school.
Yes sir, masser sir.
I had an Uncle who applied to the LAPD back in the 1960's and they used to give a multitude of intelligence tests...and they told him...
"We can't accept you, you test too high. Our studies show you would be bored out of your mind."
"What do you mean?"
"You're too smart to live this profession."

If they did beat him they need to go to jail and lose their jobs. But something tells me this kid was in a fight before he was arrested. Frick Jesse Jackson types if they heat this up before the facts are in.

Red flag for what? I sold my wife's care for $14,000 and I was paid in cash which is what I required. Unless the money is wired to my account from another bank, or I see a bank teller print a cashiers check with my own eyes cash is the only thing I am accepting from a buyer on anything other than real estate.

Video needs to be released ASAP.
Holding it will only make it worse for the police. Troy is small town Alabama so I don't know how this will play out.

Could be...
But that doesn't look like a fight where you can defend yourself.
That looks like a handcuffed beating.

Then you have viable reason and resources to not have anything stolen.
Plausible, but unrealistic. Any sum large enough to warrant questions wouldn't be a cash transaction.
If someone wants to pay me 8 grand for a car of mine, in cash, that's a red flag.
In other words, you believe police are justified when they seize large amounts of cash, even if they have no evidence that the cash is for criminal purposes. There's a word for government seizing of private property. It's called Communism.
I'm glad to know which side of Liberty/Communism divide you're on.

Maybe Troy PD has a history of this.
And--if true--that why the kid with the gun ran...because kids keep up on things like that?
Your logic would also apply if a white person encountering a couple of young black men approaching by simply shooting them because..."You know they have a history of being violent around here"
Both are bullshite.

If this were some lilly white frat boy at Troy University this thread would be different.
Thats racist and not true...unless you have something to have based that claim in??

"Police Deaths Approach 50-Year Low During Trump’s First Year in Office"
That's totally true, except it's not actually a 50-year low. There were fewer deaths in 2013, under Obama.
None of this has anything to do with the POTUS, anyway. Police departments are not part of the federal government. They are part of state and local governments. If that doesn't seem profound to you, then you should read up on the concept of federalism.

Yeah. Accidents happen. Out of millions..millions of civilian/police encounters a year, accidents will happen..bad choices will be made. In your opinion, what is an acceptable number of these type of accidents to happen in an average year?
quote:
You're retired, so you have plenty of time to educate yourself if you desire.
Education can only happen with a defined criteria...which is why I asked you for your standard for an acceptable number of these type of things to happen in a given year.

That analogy make no sense. How are you applying it to arrive at similar situational characteristics?

No one knows the facts yet. So no need to speculate one way or another.

Another poster implied that only someone engaged in something illegal would be carrying a large sum of cash in their car, and that would be justification for a confrontation with the police.
