Vegans had something to do with it. Bank on it.
Apparently it was started by people working on solar panels on the roof.

Industries will learn to move operations out of California because that state can't be depended on to support or protect any capitalist industry.
Industry must learn that even if there are Eco-terrorists burning these industries, the local Govt can't protect capitalist industry and the Cali Govt probably has many employees who actively cheer the terrorists.
Wise up, Industry. California is your enemy now.

Good thing I have 5 freezers full of deer meat, ground beef but a bunch of veggies too. Why would anyone put all of their eggs in one basket, so to speak? That's like put all of your money on ENRON stock.
Are your electric bills worth the savings of hunting your own deer meat? 5 freezers going at once would be pretty expensive.

No. It was due to a faulty fire suppression system on the roof where they have a large rooftop solar array

Or they'll learn to be more responsible. They had a similar close call in 2024. Their roof top fire suppression systems are not robust enough to have a massive solar array on the roof. Another similar building in Washington State burned for weeks a few years ago.
This is on industry themselves being unable to self regulate the safety of their buildings.

quote:If hunters calculated the actual cost of their deer meat it would be prohibitive. I jokingly say my deer meat is $500 a lb. If one worried so much about that, you would probably give your deer meat away. But you have tractor, fuel, seed, fertilizer, etc., etc., which shoots the cost up. Club dues have gone up. And then we have a garden. It would be way cheaper to go the fresh market. So what do I do with my free time if I quit all of that?

Happened a while ago, there’s video of that warehouse with ALL THE MEAT ROTTING IN towers 20 feet high - in a metal building in LA during the summer

How does a frozen meat warehouse catch on fire ?

Just raise rabbits. You can get a ton of meat from raising rabbits. Just start with two and in 1Year you’ll have an large, exponentially increasing, meat source

quote:I think you totally missed the point. I like rabbit every now and again but not as a sole source of meat. We hunt because we enjoy and even though expensive, I enjoy the prep work more than the actual hunting.

My deer meat is maybe $1.00 per pound
but I pay nothing to shoot them.
I understand that finding a place to hunt
and all the expenses involved.
I have a unique situation

“It’s not something you want to be smelling” said Oscar.
I got a sample of what they’re going through in the Navy probably not as bad as what they’re experiencing.
When I got out of boot camp I was assigned to the Seabee base at Port Hueneme for A school. They didn’t have room for us there so we were in barracks at Pt. Magu Naval Air Station.
About my second day there a frickin dead whale washed up on the beach at the base. The smell was horrific, like being locked up in a house with a dead cow.
After a couple of days Navy tugs towed it off in the ocean so we got a couple days reprieve before it washed back up.
After a couple more days they towed it off again, this time reportedly they tried to blow it up with explosives, guess they thought it would sink.
It washed up again and the smell was worse than ever.
I was seriously considering deserting and try to get back home. Finally after a few more days we got moved to the Seabee base.
That was a miserable 2 weeks.
