Okay, this is sensible, but we were not discussing sensible solutions like this; we were discussing authoritarian solutions - specifically that the President should be able to fire federal judges at will.

It's both.
It's exactly what I said it was.
We have a Constitution and we could vote to give away our democracy too. It would be harder—we'd have to pass a Constitutional amendment, or several of them, but democracies are inherently vulnerable in that the citizenry can vote away the democracy.
And the more people you allow to vote, the more likely that outcome is.

Whatever they have done is almost zero compared to packing the court. The democrats have not done that yet, but they are campaigning on it.
Further, the plainly partisan judgements by Boasberg, Amy “SNAP” Jackson, and several other dipshits is worse than anything Trump has done.
Lastly, the appointment, and confirmation, of Ketanji Jackson has debased the highest court for a generation.
