I stood outside my house this morning...just in my underwear. All I could feel was the cold air and the sunshine. I'm really trying to feel the shutdown but no luck yet. How 'bout yall?

I’m assuming you aren’t a Native American or federal worker

Just another reminder our Coast Guard will not be getting another paycheck very soon.

You're right, most people won't notice the shutdown. But some people are working without pay. And some companies can't get their permits. And don't expect your tax refund any time soon....

Sounds like congress should fund the wall if they care about the coast guard so much.

Every morning our local news runs their AP political bot with new fear monger of the day regarding the shutdown. So obvious.

:sigh:

Look I am a believer in the wall too, but the armed forces are the wrong people to hold hostage over it.

They will get 100% of their pay when the shutdown is over.

Yep. Contrary to popular belief, it's going to be tricky for Republicans not to budge on the wall when the coast guard isn't being paid and people aren't getting tax refunds

All joking aside I do feel for the Coast Guard families having to work with no mid-month pay during the shutdown.

Which could be a very long time from now with Pelosi as speaker.

Thats not exactly reassuring or feasible to ask a military family to go months/weeks without pay.

Unfortunately so many people run their lives living paycheck to paycheck. Hopefully they can use this instance to re-evaluate their spending habits.

Most companies don't mail out W-2 forms until after January 31st

Of all the things to worry about, tax refunds isn't an eminent concern

I had no issue with it in 2013 when I was active duty.

Then again I've always made sure I have at least six month's pay in savings.

Funds were appropriated to pay the Coast guard last pay period, and I'm sure funds will be appropriated for mid month pay as well on the 15th.

They have not missed a pay check yet...thanks to president Trump's efforts

So can congress fund just the coast guard in a piecemeal fashion? If they can and aren’t, who is holding who hostage?
