"But the fact of the matter is that we've gotta ... make sure that the narrative is understood that the protests are about racial inequality, social injustice and police brutality, and that kneeling during the anthem was a mechanism to raise that attention and to get those voices heard. But it's not about disrespecting the flag or disrespecting the military, and I think Drew knows that.”

But, but, he's disrespecting the Flag!!!!

My pissing in your wife’s face isn’t an insult or a battery. It is symbolic of “waking her up to my point of view”

Yeah, having a nice explanation for a fricked up thing removes the frickery right out.

Take your little victories after the shock of the jobs report today.

That must have been a bitter pill.

You dont get to piss in my dinner, the say; "don't get mad. It's not about disrespect". What kind of fricked universe did you people grow up in?

My children rationalize this way.

Nate Boyer is a t-sip. That should be readily apparent at this point.

If the flag is just a piece of cloth and no big deal, then why do people get all twisted about the confederate flag?

He says he's not disrespecting the flag.

I find it to be VERY disrespectful to the flag, irregardless of what he says.

This may seem extreme but who knows. When I can say that my actions mean something deeper to me that you could never understand and I actually have people backing me on it because if they don't then they will be ostracized too.. That slope could get slippery.

He will defend a person right to kneel for the flag but then not defend a person right to stand for the flag.

What a fricking hypocrite

If it wasn’t disrespecting the flag, it would have no value. It’s a purposeful affront to people and that’s why it’s effective in drawing attention to the person doing it.

It’s the same thing that the dumb church from Kansas does. Protest anything sacred to get attention for your organization.

Kneeling is a middlefinger to the USA

ETA...to elaborate. The anthem is a 3 min symbol of the entire country. To kneel is to say it's not worth your respect...it means nothing to you. Foreign flags ( of which players have near zero knowledge of..ie playing in London) get respect. No fricking way the NFL would allow players to kneel in London for what it would represent

The entire reason that kneeling for the anthem gets any attention at all is prescisely because it IS disrepectful. Your logic fails at every level.

Do it on your own time then, not during the National Anthem!

I had that thought last night. It's pretty clearly established that the same flag can mean different things to different people based on the persons experiences. How does it not apply to all flags/symbols/statues etc.

We also need to realize that at the time Kapernivk never really said what his issues were, and much of the debate was whether or not he could protest on company time while in the company uniform.
