I think Doge was legit but I think it was for show on the right and probably even the WH. None of these cuts were going to make into a spending bill. The GOP and the WH knew it. Much of what Trump likes to do is give it lip service and make an effort knowing it won't come to fruition.
I'm a maga guy but there is a lot of talk and appearances of doing something. But that's it. Not on everything but a whole lot of it.

They had the DJT tax cuts as leverage. I believe so.

Not hard to believe. MAGA LOVES spending, now. When Trump told them to do so, MAGA suddenly loved increased, big, and beautiful, deficit spending.
Oh, and more wars.

Spending cuts though would have to be approved by Congress especially if they were part of the budget. This was all for show overall

Hopefully it showed the American Public just how much fraud and waste there is and also how unwilling the government and courts are to address it.
This really wasn't on most people's radar before DOGE.

Trump 2.0 has been an abysmal failure on domestic policy.

Well... can't really disagree there.

Probably because Thune and the swamp GOPe/uniparty Senate told them if they wanted to get anything passed, they needed to cool it.
