Her sentence seems excessive to me. 57 months for funneling money to her own campaign through fradulent books sales? She shouldn't get jail time IMO. Make her pay the money back, do a perp walk, and make her resign. That's punishment enough IMO.

A federal judge sentenced former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh to three years in prison, followed by three years of probation.

Pugh was sentenced Thursday to three years in federal prison for using fraudulent book sales to funnel illegal donations to her campaign and evade taxes. She was also ordered to pay restitution of $669,000.

Federal prosecutors took about 50 minutes to lay out their argument for Pugh to serve 57 months in federal prison for using a criminal book-selling scheme to "rig an election and cover it up."

Prosecutors said an investigation into Pugh began in February 2017 based on accusations she used her children's books as a ruse to raise money for her mayoral campaign and a new house.

It’s probably a reasonable sentence but lets get her opinion on Comey, Hilldawg, McCabe and numerous other Swampers still walking free.

Nope. They should have rounded it to 60. Her being mayor and using fraudulent funds to continue being mayor where she can enact terrible policy that harms her constituents tells me that the punishment wasn’t enough.

Nah. If you don't throw them in jail there is no deterrence. Plus with her it wasn't some comingling of accounts or accepting slightly oversized donations. It was a very deliberate and elaborate scheme to break the law.

It's straight up money laundering. People had to help her. Should be multiple perp walks.

What do you think would happen to you if you laundered $700,000?

White privilege, bro. I would be given an island in Tahiti and declared King for Life.

Kind of weak-minded nonsense is why these assholes keep trying.

Why are you wasting this board's time by bringing us this story of what amounts to a county dog catcher being arrested?

Her sentence should have been "a day for every dollar scammed".

One day when I have time I'll sit down with you and explain to you how a message board works. Once I've done that it will save you the time and trouble of reading posts that don't interest you.

I'm all for that. I'm just opposed on priciple to putting non-violent offenders in prison. Any options outside of prison time are on the table in my book

Will you be explaining the part where "/s" is typically meant to be read as "end sarcasm?" Because I already know that.

I'm not. Misusing campaign funds should get you hard time, as should any misuse/theft of taxpayer money.
