The trade gap in June is the highest in 14 months. The US is implementing new tariffs when the 10% expires and many retailers/companies are front loading inventory to get ahead of them.

Question for those who think a tariff is a tax. The federal govt is refunding billions to companies.....have these companies sent you refund checks, just curious.......

I have read this 4 times and I still don't know what you are asking or saying. Can you clarify it?

Companies passed the tarrifs onto the consumer through increased prices, so now that those companies got refunded, are they passing those refunds onto the consumer also? No, they are pocketing them.

They are profit driven, so of course they do. The only remedy is for the consumer to stop buying at the inflated price. Then prices will come down.

Agree...

But also funny that people who pronounced these tariffs woudln't be passed onto the consumer are asking why the consumers aren't getting the refunds.

Anyone with half a brain knew companies weren't going to absorb the tariffs on their own. The goal is to find the balance that drives manufacturing back into the US, but doesn't hurt the consumer. Is there one, who knows

Tariffs are taxes. There is no question about that. The question you seem to be asking is “Whom are being taxed.” That’s a complicated question with no single answer. It varies depending on the supply and demand curves for each tariffed good.

This is sometimes true, sometimes not, and sometimes partially true.

Interesting.

Think about how many on the left were going insane over Trump's Tariffs, so the courts ruled against the POTUS and the refunded money goes back to the corporations the left generally hate.
