He was born again I think. Really religious dude. Nice guy but the platoon sgt handled that quick.

You would have thought he would have learned the lesson of "never stick out good or bad, just quietly be in the middle somewhere" long before that point LOL That's the exact advice I gave my boys who followed me in going to the Army. Now once you move up in some rank, then yes you want to stick out for good things, but you NEVER want to be "that guy"

You must be younger than me too, because in my day the platoon would have kicked the shite out of him and the sgt would have kept his eyes closed.

If she could pass the tests, she deserves a shot.

I get the sentiment but it's not like she just showed up and gave it a whirl. There was an entire pipeline created to find someone with a much lower chance passing. If you do that continuously you quickly have a smaller force for the same money.

If she made it through regular training more power to her.

If someone made things easier for her than they're doing her, our country, and the lives of any who serve under her a disservice and potentially fatal mistake.

I don't doubt that there is at least a woman out there who can keep up. I just hope she's that .01%, and not the 99.99 that'll just lead to failure.

Won't last 6 months in the fleet.

If she met the same quals as the men, more power to her.

The Marines are big on pull ups, I would love to see a video of her pull ups and them being graded.

She doesn't need to do that many. Besides, I've seen a handful of females that can do plenty legit pull ups.

The PFT is a stupid measure anyway. Pull ups are easy, crunches are pointless, and running is for pussies.

The Marine PFT makes no sense. No push ups

In recon didn't you guys have push ups in your PT test?

Don't females just do the flexed hang--essentially one pull-up and hold for a number of seconds?

I bet you would prefer nude Indian leg wrestling for PT tests.

Push ups are easy, too.

Pull ups are a solid sideways way of using the PT test to enforce weight control.

All these people out there with elastic tape measures that yield miracle results can't help you with the fact that every extra pound of non muscle makes pull ups harder

For POGs, yes. I think female candidates for a combat MOS now have to do pull ups. Maybe not, though.

Yeah, but three pull ups is terrible.

Yeah, it's the minimum, but fat people are typically cool with the minimum.

I think they can do pull ups if they want.

I think to get all the points they have to do 7 instead of 20.

I doubt her unit will ever see combat so she wont be a total failure. This isn't a good idea though. Most of y'all know if you can only meet the minimum standard life is going to be hard. So for her sake, I hope she passed with flying colors. There is always 1.
