He might not be great but he’s right of Francis and he’s not a Jesuit. So he’s going to be promoting more conservatively than Francis did for bishops/cardinals/etc… which will ultimately be a net positive for when his successor is picked.

Pretty much this

Im incredibly happy he wasn't a Jesuit. Augustinian is infinitely better than those Blue Jay frickers

Every pope decided by the conclave has been a 10/10. All popes pray to God then make their pick creating a consensus pick of God's will. How could the pick ever be anything but a 10/10, unless you think the whole religion is a scam?

Is someone calling them bad people for wanting something better?

They're bad for not going about it the correct way.

Yes they pray to God but they are also human and have free will. They may or may not pick according to the Holy Spirit's choice speaking to them.

Yea maybe one or two of them got distracted during prayer, but this is well over 100 people praying and voting. It is clear that it is God's vote every time.

Right, but what about the ones who aren't violent criminals?

I mean i know hardcore Trumpers will never say anything about amnesty, but I don't thinks it's very Christian to deport all of them.

They should at very least allow those with no known issues a chance at citizenship via the way they currently do it (if not a better process). I think that's a good compromise and infinitely more compassionate way of handling the immigration crisis

wait and see, he seems traditional on some things and liberal on others. Could have been a lot worse

Unless we send JD Vance for him.

My cousins wife and youngest son returned to the Philippines for 4 years because she did not complete the process correctly.

They have to leave and do it the correct way.

What you think and compassion has no baring on the issue.

You can still have a bad Pope. Just not a heretic.

I don't know how anyone can look at the history of Catholic Church leadership and say this with a straight face. If that leadership is in God's hand then God is one fricking a horrible being

The Church is comprised of flawed humans. We’re all flawed humans.

It’s a win if he drives re-engagement with the Catholic Church in the United States. I want major reform/cleanup, but I know I won’t get it in my lifetime. I’ll settle for a re-energized Catholic community doing goods things here. I think we could use more of that. If the Pope is listening… men are the ones you need to call home again. Get them back on the train and let them lead.

Only reform that’s acceptable is allowing the clergy to marry

Since the church is the bride of Christ ,and the Mass is its wedding , therefore having female clerics would constitute an unnatural act

Id like to see a return to the traditional mass but in English

I am content, not the best choice, but could have been much worse. Prayers for the Pope

Too early to tell. Some positive things, however looks as if he will oppose Trump on immigration, and he’s bought into the climate change racket.

At best, he’ll be a centrist and keep to church teachings. I feel we dodged a bullet with Cardinals Tagle and Zuppi.

Sorry. Can't simultaneously play the "in God's hands" card with the "well, yeah. We're fricked up cause we're human" card..

Either there's nothing particularly special about Catholic leadership and there are no different than any other people I might bump into during life or they have some special position allowing them to lead the church.

Their actual Behavior over the last hundred years at least indicates strongly that they're just a bunch of dudes only worse than most

Might as well since the overwhelming majority of them don't maintain the vow of celibacy anyway and the church leadership knows it

Well he supported a wife beater/human trafficker, so I would say he is a 2 out of 10. Maybe he will prove me wrong…

Others have said he was elected to get the Catholics out of their $2billion debt…
