Wasted weeks of police time chasing down his fake story when they could have been working on real crimes.

He needs to be convicted but 16 felonies are a ton.

You realize the Fed hasn't even begun to charge him on the fake letter and white powder yet right?

How many felonies then would be sufficient for you?

They'll end up offering him a plea deal that reduces the number of counts. With him facing 16 counts, there's a better chance of his plea deal offer still including a little bit of jail time.

He made up a lie and costed the city and Feds a lot of investigative time. I don’t know the amount of felonies that are appropriate, but seems like overkill to me.

Fair enough assessment. Problem is, you get charged for the sh*t you do (or don't do in some cases) and there are more charges to come.

Not at all. Sometimes you need the threat of the "overkill" to induce a plea agreement.

I'll accept a set of lesser charges if he has solid proof that Horizontal Harris, Spartacus and Rahm are implicated in the planning.

You gotta love how they contradict themselves inside of two paragraphs

quote:

“What you have is a police department and prosecutors that are obviously mad at him for embarrassing the city so they took every one of his lies and made it into another count,” said Terry Sullivan,

quote:

“It is common practice for the Cook County state’s attorney to charge as much as they can for any kind of crime,” he said.

Then you are in luck. The 16 recent charges are on top of the original charge. So he has 17 currently.

The police and prosecutors had nothing to do with the indictments.

A grand jury issued them.

He should have to pay back the respective governments - either through restitution or via a civil suit.
