Build the wall, place guards at it, no anchor babies, but path to citizenship for illegals?
I potentially would for
- anchor babies who were brought here as little kids and grew up here and adults pre-Obama with completely clean records (or something along those lines).
- the path of to citizenship and voting rights should take many years and require the applicate to not violate America's laws during that period.
- somehow include a tax on any monies sent out of the country back to familes - not sure how that one would work

There's a provision for that on the books. There are BILLIONS sent every year through Western Union and similar platforms. Trump had unilateral authority to impose huge fees on it and he never did.

This was never the intent of the 14th Amendment.

Tells you where the power lies, asking global corporates questions that should be answered by American citizens.

I think more of a work permit.
They can stay if they have a job.
They can be er have welfare benefits.
They're children also cannot become citizens.

A fricking footnote in Plyler v. Doe is the basis for birthright citizenship

Illegal aliens are owed nothing except a trip back to their country of origin.

Regain destroyed this country in 86 by signing an amnesty bill - it turned California blue forever - so hell no on amnesty

Hey, have you ever thought she may be working the long game to bring them into the tent? You posters here live very much in the present.

The technocrats need workers and need them cheaply.
Its nothing more than replacement, cheap labor.

8 years of compulsive military service concurrent with intense civics and US history studies and a pledge of allegiance to the US = citizenship.

Build the wall first and we will talk. The whole trade is that promise has been made multiple times and the amnesty happens and the border is still not secure.

No citizenship, but legal residency could b on the table. This is only negotiated if the 14th amendment is abolished to end birth right citizenship.

Why not 33 million? Does anyone actually know?

And requires an absolute iron curtain of a southern border.
Legal immigration only

I am 100% ok with this. If they put in 10 years of work here they have done more than many. Problem is that it won't be applied properly and leeches will be accepted along with the productive people.
I am not for open borders but we have to have a realistic plan. We need to quit pretending that we can send 20 million people out of the country without some really bad consequences.

I remember hearing this when Reagan granted amnesty to a few million illegals.
This game has been going on for years.

Placing "qualifiers" on illegal arrivals, knowing they'll never really be enforced, is more pollyanna-ism that plays into the hands of the Dems.
Qualifiers/limits ostensibly to prevent illegals' potential political effect, while conveniently ignoring that the main objective of the Dems is to get as many warm bodies in here as possible, because they know they'll all be voting for them eventually.
