Both the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq Composite Index have yet to register a weekly decline so far this year. With more gains to close this week, both major indices notched a nine-week winning streak that started in the last week of the year.
This is the first time since 1964 that the Dow has rallied in each of the first nine weeks to kick off the year. The previous back-to-back week record was hit in 1964, when the Dow rose in all of the first 11 weeks through mid-March. Throughout those weeks, the Dow jumped 7 percent which was about half of its 14.6 gain for that year. Total, the Dow saw a 13-week winning streak that started in the last two weeks of 1963.

Kudos to the first poster to predict CNN's racist or sexist angle to the DOW results.

I put as much stock in Trump raising the stock market in 2019 as him lowering it in late 2018.

Driven seemingly entirely off of the Fed tapping the brakes because the global economic outlook sucks but whatever.

It's great to see the Obama economy kick back in after the horrible fourth quarter Trump brought us.

Was that the year they lost to Atlanta? That was a very good football game and as a Falcons fan I was absolutely shocked they won.

a lot to be said for getting the government out for the fricking way and letting what happens happen

Did he do anything to the market in particular? no

Do his policies make the environment more amenable to something favorable happening? frick yes

Look Ma! No QE!

also helps that the Fed took a break from fricking with it
