Mate she was pretty clearly a leftist. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but her family should have been proud of it and said leftists can love and serve their country too instead of scrubbing it.

I don't really understand this though. I know many progressives and they would be defiant and say "yes, my daughter was a gay liberal who served her country". I don't understand the hiding it.
Maybe her parents ARENT liberal and they were ashamed of certain aspects. Wasn't she homeschooled until college or did I misread that?
