ISPs we’re proposing it before NN was written.

All traffic needs to be treated the same, to argue otherwise is insane.

Developed countries that are smaller than many US states.

Population density matters. The amount of fiber you run matters. The amount of equipment you need to support that fiber matters. The amount of equipment to transmit the data over the fiber matters.

Just forgetting the infrastructure of fiber

Internet speeds on par with the US are cheaper in other countries. If you lived in Germany like you said you should know comparable service in other countries is cheaper .I’m assuming you had Kabel Deutschland. I was getting 100 down no cap for 20 euro a month.

That didn't answer my question. Regulations should't be written to address things "proposed" or "might do."

I agree. Title II and NN isn't the way to do it.

Please explain why your ISP should be able to prioritize traffic over others who don’t pay.

AT&T might be owning CNN soon

Well guess what if AT&T is your ISP they can make Fox basically unusable unless you pay extra or they will keep redirecting you back to CNN.

I said take infrastructure out the equation

Even in small villages outside the city you get these prices

Pro-NN people seem concerned only with internet traffic being treated equally.
Anti-NN people seem concerned only with the Title II/common carrier classification.

But you can't do this and have an honest discussion about internet prices. Companies have to recoup capital investment.

It cost Kabel Deutschland FAR less to run fiber and the associated infrastructure than it did Comcast, Century Link, etc.

They had the ability to support higher transmission speeds and offer it at a lower price point for this very reason.

A "small village outside the city" was maybe a five minute drive.

A "small town outside the city" in the US can be an hour or more drive.

We drove from Schweinfurt Germany to the Netherlands in less than a day. It took me two days to cross Texas alone. The amount of distance you're dealing with isn't even remotely comparable. That matters. A lot.

It's just amazing.

We're trying to discuss business with people who seem to think it's just magic.

Yet they still reach villages where people are not living on top of each other. You may not get great speeds but you are not paying way to much for it. So the investment is being made.

A major reason is bc start up ISPs get locked out the game

Cmon man. You know damn well the population density of these villages still is way, WAY higher than small town USA.

And the distance they are from major cities is minuscule compared to the US equivalents outside of maybe Rhode Island .

It makes a huge difference. Yet there's not exactly thriving competition in our population centers either. Local deals are a huge issue.

I live in a town of 20k people right now in Oklahoma. One company decided to invest bc they created a local monopoly.

If other companies or start ups had access to all markets you would see internet quality in rural America go up.

Ah...but how did they create a local monopoly?

(I'll overlook the existence of mobile and satellite providers in this case)
