Comparable has nothing to do with it. If there are in fact nine ISPs in the BR area, then there are in fact nine different companies you can use to access content on the internet.

Some will have better speeds, some will have better prices.

These are all cars, have 4 wheels, and get you from point A to B.. but they aren't "competitors". Hefty vs Glad is competition. They make comparable products. Comparing dial up internet to fiber internet (they both allow access to the internet) is dishonest at best and you should feel ashamed for attempting to make that argument

To use bmy's example, a ferrari and gremlin will both get you to where you're going.

One just gets you there faster in style.

You're still driving on the road regardless.

Just because your ISP doesn't provide you with the level of service you would like doesn't mean it's not an ISP.

And on top of all this, why have all major ISPs increased bandwidth over the years if there's no competition and it's one big monopoly? Why is AT&T rolling out Gig fiber?

Well here in South Carolina it's Charleston, Columbia, and Greenville.

Competition is either Comcast or Spectrum.

You didn't get enough of having your arse kicked in the same Halfwit thread on the O-T so you came over here to get more?

So you continue to believe the only way to get highspeed internet access in your dwelling is to have some kind of wire running through the wall? You're sooooo 1990's......

It's funny that someone you call grandpa understands how to use technology better than you do.

Eta: I was wrong....there are not 9 internet providers in Baton Rouge. I just checked. There are 11. My bad....

In terms of a solid uninterrupted connection yes. Using your cell phone for prolonged periods as your primary internet is not feasible. Even with unlimited cell data they throttle you after 20GB. Which is burned through in no time.

But you don't.

When you run your own servers and switches come find me.

As suspected most here are adhering to their political party of choices stance on the issue and refuse to form an opinion of their own or consider any points from across the aisle.

And you're the genius who believes that only through strict government regulations and intervention can the U.S. have a good internet service industry.

I'd call THAT being delusional.....

Well, it was nice knowin’ ya’ boys. This Trump FCC director is determined to dismantle net neutrality and I am afraid that sites like this won’t survive.

Perhaps one day you will understand the internet. Or, maybe not. Either way, your grasp of this issue is very limited unfortunately.

It would be wonderful if you could contribute meaningful insights into this discussion, but, unfortunately, you are like the retarded child in the short bus - out of the loop.

Yep. Trump could wipe his arse with the American flag and Hillary could go on a killing spree of orphaned children, and each side would still say "BUT WHAT ABOUT ______ ?!"

Agreed. It is politicians vs. the people. And the people are losing.
