I mean yeah... if you ignore the costs of delivering the data.. it’s really, really cheap!
Does he think getting up to snuff is free?

I think part of it is because he's in the Air Force and not corporate America. I'll be honest I was floored on how much IT infrastructure (and licensing/support) runs once I got on the civilian side.
My firm only has roughly 1500 employees, and we spend millions every year on infrastructure. Scaling that up to what ISPs have to support...good lord.

He’s arguing infinite supply at no costs. I wish he were right. It would be an amazing world. I’d be doing all I could to get into the ISP business if he were anywhere close to correct. I’m not. Nor is anyone else.
All I know is, using his arguments, I want to know why the internet is so fricking slow in Germany, England, Japan etc etc?
I mean, the tech absolutely exists to have multiplied even their speeds SUBSTANTIALLY.
And ya know, it basically costs nothing to provide.
So what the frick is wrong with them?

Ya. If you don't like it, don't use their service. I data throttle here at work. It's called QoS.

maybe he knows about an Infinite bandwidth hub we don’t. We run just a small DC, but I’d love to upgrade it to infinite bandwidth and hook up our whole office building. It would be amazing.
You would still fail because if such a thing existed, in short order, 100 companies would design systems to make use of that infinite(which even infinity isn't REALLY infinity) bandwidth.
They'd tell you to suck it up buttercup and build a BETTER hub!!!!

I've another question.
Let's pretend that we waved a wand today and that the U.S. had an internet infrastructure that met exactly the needs Cash believes should exist.
Does Cash somehow believe that content providers won't notice this coolie new capability?
How long does Cash think it would take for content providers to then overwhelm his cool new system?
And, who does he believe should be on the hook for the costs of providing that new content?

I'm gonna let TA or Centinal step in to articulate why I brought it up.

IPs? Hell we block entire countries

So if you have a handful of subscribers going balls to the wall, it's going to affect the ability of the rest of the subscribers to access content.
In this Modern Age that should never happen. I never have to wait on anything. It sounds just like a shity argument from a rich man trying to take your ability to choose freely and strong-arm people into paying more money.

My point was simply that it's a lot easier to upgrade networks in a more densely populated area.
So, citing better networks in England/German/Japan etc is like pointing out that Chicago has better service than Deer Lodge, Montana.

Found the next guy that knows nothing about building out networks.

You get charged when you exceed it or the ISP changes you plan.

Glorious. I absolutely KNEW you would have no idea why I cited population density.

Just for the sake of argument. Given the aforementioned population densities of England and Germany...........imagine if all major providers in the U.S. focused their entire efforts only upon areas with greater than 200 per square mile population density?
I suspect THOSE places would be very similar to what these whiners point to in the rest of the world.
And, of course, the rest of the nation would set fire to D.C. for allowing it.
