Yes, they were billing medicaid for home health care visits not made. Some of the employees were actually clocked in at other jobs while supposedly conducting these visits.
Not only have she and her family been robbing the feds, she is a complete moron.
The city's finances are in a mess. They couldn't figure out how to post payments to water bills, took in only cash for payment and tore up checks that were made in payment. Some people were getting water bills for 1,000.00 because their payments weren't credited.
Hopefully the majority population can be convinced to vote on merit next time, and not color.
I just returned from a visit there yesterday. I hate seeing what has happened. It was a great little town growing up, and there are still lots of great people there, with beautiful old homes.
We still have LeJeune's French Bread and this:

Well in all fairness, I know some good Cajuns boys with names like "Adonis"-but pronounced in the French way. Lots of times in the old days, the doctors would name the babies, if the parents couldn't decide. So they would use names of Greek and Roman classical characters.

In todays political environment, somehow saying this:
is racist. But doing this:
is not.
Weird.

Hopefully there are enough who are angry about being robbed. The city's finances were so bad, that the state auditor couldn't even reconcile one whole year of finances.

Making up for lost time, they were denied access to the trough for so long, they have to take advantage of the opportunity now.

If your mayor is a black female Democrat, I advise a quick exit to some non-shithole part of the country.

Government corruption so hot right now

New Iberia is about 20 years behind Jeanerette, Ville Platte, and Opelousas. These little towns outside of Lafayette that aren't suburbs all face the same problem.
Young people who can get out do so. These towns are then pretty much left with dirt poor people on government assistance, a small upper crust of rich white folk who will die in these towns, and professional black folk who are involved in government and pulling schemes like this.

Yes, I'm one of a very large group of siblings, and only 1 stayed. We had to go where the jobs are. It's really a shame, because there are really some advantages growing up in a small town. Those towns along the bayou have beautiful homes, some more than 100 years old, made of heart pine and cypress.

Same here. My siblings and I are all gone and out of my group of friends, only one remains in the area.

Yes, New Iberia will suffer the same fate. It is already starting to happen. But I would say they are more like 35 years behind Jeanerette.

The Port and what's left of oil on 90 has kept it afloat compared to those other towns, but that's mattered less as people have moved to Broussard/Youngsville and commuted to their job on 90 or NI.
