Medicaid fraud is the kicker.
It is run out of the AG’s office, I think under a grant from the feds. The assistant AG files them in East Baton Rouge, no matter where the accused is, on the theory that the paperwork was received in BR and the money cane from there.
My very limited experience with it is that they go more low-level than large scale. It’s easy to pick off a caregiver who signs a time sheet. They’ll get a real fight from the agency that got the money. If you read here, they took out the individuals first with earlier charges. Looks like the LA’s report and the scope of this one sent them after the management.
That’s my take FWIW.
