Won’t be hard to turn it blue with a few more hippies moving to Austin and Houston. That and the way latinos vote historically.

Should we shut everything down for anything less?

I have been following this obsessively as I live in Houston.

We saw cases begin to spike on June 16. Prior to that day, we never had more than 2,500 cases in a given day. (June 16 happens to be two weeks after the Floyd protests in our major cities). On June 16 we hit ~4,500. It's climbed steadily to almost 10K yesterday. The data is not all in yet today but we're already at 8,900 with San Antonio still to report.

We have NOT seen a rise in deaths UNTIL YESTERDAY. We have been consistently seeing 33-45 deaths a day. Yesterday for the first time we hit 85. Today we're already at 103 (again with San Antonio still to report).

Now, two important things:

1. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are always the highest. I don't know completely why but a number of counties hold their data for a few days and then dump it. Last week we went from 21 cases to 59 and 45 on Tuesday and Wednesday. This week, we had 54 total cases over the weekend and 85 yesterday and somewhere over 103 today.

2. Even if the deaths have increased a little, it is no where near the rise in cases. Again, on June 15 we had 2,138 newly reported cases. Three weeks later and we're looking at at least 9K per day for the past three days. That's 4x increase in cases. With a 2x increase in deaths per day (if the last two days are more than just an anomaly).

I hope you, as voter in this country, aren’t willing to wreck the economy just because people got sick and didn’t die.

Death is the be all and end all when it comes to life itself.

I actually ascribe to the theory that the actual "cases" are way more than we have detected. There are so many people who are asymptomatic, given that the CDC has said this virus has a IFR of 0.26%. To put it in context, if the CDC is correct, that means we probably have had 50 million people catch this. This chart is a few days old but it demonstrates the point:

The Arlington mayor would probably take the convention. After all we have AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, etc.

Just move it to Frisco, Katy or Montgomery County/Woodlands..

Turner and Shirley Temple (Hidalgo) have been pushing all their cards in since the Covid started. They're getting desperate now...

You people shut the country down because muh mortality rate. Now that it doesn’t fit the narrative you don’t like people bringing up deaths. At least you dims are consistent at one thing. Hypocrisy

Why wouldn't it be? Does a virus that doesn't kill at a higher rate (or slightly higher) than other socially-accepted, transmittable illnesses really matter in the least?

What's the point if hospitals can keep up and people aren't dying? What else is there to worry about?

This is the key to the issue. The base is going to slaughter them on Election Day. Mark my words.
