There isn't a state in the country that has banned a book from Barnes and Noble, Amazon, Walmart, etc..
You would be hard pressed to find a state ban at public libraries (maybe something from the 50s/60s that never got revoked).

The censorship is at elementary schools. Some high schools.
And you know what? Local school systems SHOULD determine what they allow and disallow. That is a federalist principle that I am fully in favor for (even if an LA school district puts kiddie porn in elementary schools and calls it art. Let the world know who they are and where they stand and let their constituents either vote them out or move to the neighboring school district)
