NEW: School district agrees to undergo religious liberty training and pay $275,000 for forcing students to hide Bibles in sealed envelopes.
Everett School District in Washington made students keep Bibles in sealed envelopes at school and required families to submit permission slips every week for voluntary off-campus Bible study.
Joel Penton, founder and CEO of LifeWise Academy, said, “I also heard from parents that their children felt like they were being told they had to hide their faith when they were told they had to put their Bibles and things in envelopes as though it was something to be ashamed of, and I know that was very hurtful as well.”
The school district has agreed to undergo religious liberty training, pay $275,000 in legal fees, and post a public apology on their website for 6 months.

If tweet fails to load, click here. Ii wonder if they would do this if a child brought the Quran to school?

Glad they were held accountable. But evil doesn’t like the Truth.

What horrible people. Just bad.

If you didn’t hate the left before, this should do it

It would be interesting to determine what books, publications and objects have been permissible and not required to be placed in envelopes by this school system.

Learning seems to be pretty far down the list of things important in the school district

The ideological left is absolutely wicked. They are like the Canaanites that sacrificed their children to their gods and corrupted the Israelites with their idolatry.

Do they not know?
For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

This is what commies do. It's part and parcel of their ideological DNA and their history.

I wonder if the District sells prayer rugs as a side hustle.

Quite insightful and very well stated.
It’s revealing how committed the left is to distorting, defacing, and destroying The Imago Dei.
Abortion is their unholy high sacrament. Mutilation of the flesh, torturing and twisting of the mental facilities, turning logic inside out and upside down, poisoning the creative impulses rendering the written, musical, and visual arts often ugly and profane, and embracing and fostering false and occult religions, all evince a design to deface God’s greatest creation man.

I have family in Everett, Washington, and in fact I am going to be there in 10 days.
It wasn’t the Bible that they were requiring students to keep in envelopes.
This academy was being allowed to come in and do Bible education classes as an extracurricular activity for students whose parents had given them permission to do so.
The school district had required students to keep the course materials for those classes in envelopes during school hours.
That was probably a wrongheaded move by the district, but accuracy of course doesn’t serve the narrative and agenda here.

Whatever.
I’m a Christian, bought and saved by Jesus’ blood.
I’m not a Christian nationalist.
And I will leave it there because I have already violated my rule against discussing religion or politics online, and got a strong reminder why I have that rule.

Sounds quite similar to a book ban.

A Christian that did not consider that bibles would be brought to bible study.

How would you feel if the same school hosted and after-school Quran study that required students to keep their Qurans in an envelope during school hours?
Would you be OK with the school hosting an after-school Quran study?
Would you support Muslim parents who protested the envelope policy?

I want to send all Muslims back to the countries they came from. Their teachings are not compatible with Christianity. So, the question is irrelevant.
Had it been the Tanakh, I would be upset.
