ATLANTA -- NFL owners have approved a new national anthem policy that requires players to stand if they are on the field during the performance but gives them the option to remain in the locker room if they prefer, it was announced Wednesday.
The new policy subjects teams to a fine if a player or any other team personnel do not show appropriate respect for the anthem. That includes any attempt to sit or kneel, as dozens of players have done during the past two seasons. Those teams will also have the option to fine any team personnel, including players, for the infraction.
A vote took place at the conclusion of the league's spring meeting and was unanimously approved by the NFL's 32 owners.

Watch the assholes who have talked up this behavior the last two seasons start slamming the NFL for this.

People will challenge the NFL's right to do this, but no one questions their right to fine or suspend over other on-field behaviors, such as celebrations and unsportsmanlike conduct.

Personally, I'd like to see an admission among those who scoffed, of the impact this has had, and will continue to have, on the NFL. Obviously, it was much larger that any of the protest supporters here were willing to admit.
This will get some of the NFL viewers back, but not all of them. I truly didn't miss the NFL over the last couple of years. I don't think I'll ever be the kind of viewer and supporter I was before.

They were going down if allowed to continue

Not really, that is actually awesome. The ones that knelt did not care about a message, it was all publicity and look at me crap.
If they truly hate American, and that is what their protest was, they can do it in private. I bet you will see many give up the fake fight to be seen.
Trump broke the $63 Billion NFL with the words "son of a bitch". #Winning

If the wording is specific to "kneeling", then I fully expect the SOB's to display an even more egregious form of protest.

NFL has an absolute right to do this. If the players don't like it, they can quit. NFL is a private organization.
(Not saying you are arguing against this).

Awww, so sad. Millionaires having to show some respect to The US, the national anthem, and the US flag is melting some folks.
