Equality = two crack heads one Mike Lindel the other any other crack head...one builds a fortune the other dies

Equality = two poor kids go to public school one becomes millionaire and one does not

Equity = I buy a house, pay it down and the price appreciates...I have a value difference in house and can sell it for more than what I owe..I have "equity"

Equity = I build a company and the assets are worth more than the liabilities

Equality is we are all afforded the same opportunity/resources regardless of race gender or class but the results or outcome may differ.

Equity is we divide everyone in groups by race or gender or culture and we pass policy or laws to make sure everyone gets the exact same outcome or result.

Your house example is wrong for Equity which is financial Equity. Democratic equity is you buy that house make it real nice and pay down your mortgage. I buy a shack do nothing and miss half my payments but we both sell our homes and you get your financial equity or profit and I get the same profit because I'm in the "Home Equity Program" the government has to make sure I get the same profit because I'm a transgender home flipper.

My company showed a picture of 4 people ages 20-4 looking at a fence, only the oldest and tallest could see over it..they said that was equality

They showed same picture with the same kids on benches tall enough to see over..that was equity

In reality a small kid can't feed themselves..they are equal at time of life, but not at age... they are not equitable

It's a pretty good metaphor if you're not a callous selfish hole of a person

Exactly this... and in the end, the equity turns into shared misery.

Venezuela is laughing at us while dumpster diving for rats to eat.

Cue people complaining because "the adult guy is a whole box lower than he used to be, and he represents the WHITE MALES, so they want to bring us down!"

The metaphor is that there are only three boxes (resources)

And the best solution is get rid of the fence entirely (your version cuts that out, look a few posts up)

What is the motivation of the baseball players to play if their product is free?

I'm pretty sure the metaphor is supposed to have nothing with them all getting equal access to the game for free that they didn't pay for, it was just something interesting to put on the other side of a fence.

But now I'm realizing yeah they should have picked something better for them to be watching, haha.

This one's better, they're all looking at something free, a sunset.

The baseball one has a lot of other problems (tiered seated representing different levels of the free market for different benefits, advertiser-supported revenue, blah blah) that really just mucks up the metaphor.

You are asking if equal opportunity is the same as equal outcomes
