Musk has over promised and under-delivered for years. His autonomous driving claims are the obvious example.
It will get there one day, but I would be pretty surprised if surgery is regularly performed by autonomous robots.
Robot assisted surgery is already a thing though.

I hate robots.

Robotic surgery has been a thing for almost 30 years. This is just the first competitor to challenge Intuitive. Not sure why Musk is pumping it. None of these are autonomous.
I’ve owned ISRG for 20 years. My biggest regret was not making a margin call and selling in 2005. Rebought but I’d be set for life. Oh well.

It's a good ways away from being commercially available, but the design is solid and initial computer simulations look good.
Has this device cleared medical trials?

quote:I have no idea what s treatment would cost, but whatever it is, abdominal sepsis infection from abdominal surgery is serious and life-threatening, and survival is relatively low. If it's a $90k treatment and your mom stays alive is infinitely better than the alternative.
All for the low, low cost of $90,000
