The thing about Texas is that the property taxes (and in Central Texas, water bills) are a biiiiiiiiiiiitch.

. No way I would ever, ever vote for Cruz. I wouldn't vote for that POS to be dog catcher. I voted Dem for attorney general.

You failed miserably.

Awesome. Thanks for the input. We’ve researched and visited a few times just to make sure but love hearing from locals.

What percentage of voters in Texas vote straight party ticket?

About 2/3. Insane. Fortunately, this is the last year of straight-ticket voting in Texas.

Summer of George, I have lived in this area for nearly a decade. I don't share the same optimism as Cooter, especially on the schools and crime issues in the Bee Cave/Lakeway area. Traffic is bad and getting much worse, lots of fatalities on Hwy 71 and accidents along RR 620.

Consider Regents, St.Michael's or St. Andrews for private school over Lake Travis, or consider public Eanes ISD, schools that feed into Vandegrift HS or Dripping Springs ISD instead. Lake Travis HS is overcrowded and the school board has convinced the voters that the solution is to keep building more elem and middle schools without addressing the situation at the HS. Seemingly they want a mega HS for football purposes so they can grow their 6 state titles. I am a football parent, btw, but my kids' educations come first and I am not very happy with the way this ISD is run. Very disappointed in many of the teachers they hire that can't teach upper level courses (coaches hired to teach AP classes).

Also there was this alarming revelation about the mental health of the students last year that the district didn't address with parents UNTIL the media became involved. LINK

This ISD tries to bury any negative press and squelch any parent complaints. Also please consider the corrupt politics in Lakeway especially and Bee Cave to a lesser extent. I'm sure these issues are present in nearly every municipality, but I just didn't want you to go in believing it's some utopia out here.

As far as the crime, it's out here, mostly theft and vandalism. Get on the Bee Cave PD facebook page. Criminals target cars in parking lots AND in driveways at homes. So no, not many murders going on out here, but it's certainly not a crime-free mecca by any means.

It's also becoming more BETA than CRUZ with all the Calis invading. Lastly, the area is referred to as Fake Travis. Truth, there is no shortage of douchey people (very likely mortgaged to the hilt, leasing their new model vehicles, up to eyeballs in debt). Just do your homework before you take the plunge. It may be better than BR for your family, and if so I will welcome you.
