I posted an update on OT. Today was a great day after a couple days of very worrisome setbacks. He was able to open his eyes and actually seemed aware of everyone in the room. He reached out for my hand and squeezed it and gave me a thumbs up before I had to go back to work. He still isn't speaking and the movement is only on one side of his body but I'll take it for now.

Thanks for asking man. I've been trying to keep busy and am drinking a bit too much so you'll have to excuse me if I act an arse a bit on here...Haven't been sleeping well either.

Sounds like promising progress. I will keep on praying for him. Very sorry that he, you, and your son have to experience this.

And here I was thinking my heart ablation procedure tomorrow is a big deal.....puts things in perspective.

Thanks. It's been a week unconscious so I was really looking for some good news. I hope your procedure goes well and that it isn't as scary as it sounds man. Nothing but love. Outside of politics I am sure we'd be fast friends.

not that big of a deal.... they are "shocking" my heart with some cold fizz shite or something to correct for improper electrical signals.

My resting heart rate is 105 bpm despite me being in shape and exercising.

werid thing is....I can't even tell my heart beats so fast. I guess I have had it my whole life so don't notice.

We all give each other shite, not you and I personally, but especially on this board. I’d have a beer with any one of you baws and hope for nothing but the best for your kid’s godfather.

I guess you may have a sort of medical background by some of your posts. But that sounds like a pretty devastating stroke. I’ve had one. Every day is a reset for me. No short term memory at all. I’m the human Dory.

Prayers. Just be there for him.

Depends on the extent of damage whether or not he knows that you are there. But that doesn’t really matter, does it?

I wish both you and your family well.

It needs to be done. You’ll be glad that you did it and you’ll be able to do more things without untoward exertion.

Thanks man. And the only reason I can talk medical is because I'm a software engineer in the medical informatics space. I work with a lot of docs and nurses and obviously as mentioned my best friend is a VA nurse (and an informaticist as well).
Sorry to hear about your stroke. You seem to be doing well though.
