He is trapped in the prison of 2 ideas (hat tip to Greg Gutfeld). Two perspectives can coexist. Most of us agree that the officers actions were wrong and they should be held accountable. At the same time Brees expressed his thoughts and memories of family service, and chose to honor them. He also mentions the work of those in the 60's that fought for social justice.

That was not enough. Some cannot see two views. It is not even that their view is more important and should hold priority. They want to banish any opposing views and remove them from consideration.
