There was no alternative to trying for a vaccine - and Trump put that development on warp speed.
All of that was in the works long before DJT got elected. The "virus", the "vaccine", & OWS were products/brainchild of the DoD & their extensive array of contractors.

Such a simplistic view of it. Probably haven’t ever gone through the process of thinking of all the implications of Trump having not done what he did. Economy would’ve only relatively recently made it back to full capacity, problem being that a significant portion of the country would’ve dug in and refused to believe they were safe enough to come out of hiding and participate in the economy.
There was no choice but to secure the vaccine. So what was the logical next move once that unavoidable determination was made? Accomplish that shite as fast as humanly possible. And now we’re at “thanks Trump”.
I voted for Trump twice, hardly an anti-Trump guy. My problem is not only has he never questioned anything regarding the vax safety, he hasn't even acknowledged any harms as far as I'm aware. Worse, he still brags on it as a huge accomplishment he's proud of. Inexcusable at this point.

The “unprecedented” speed and timeframe in which the vaccine was formulated and produced was a huge accomplishment. It would be very weird to ignore that, as much as it’s a topic of conversation. That in particular was a huge accomplishment credited to him and it absolutely did get us moving back along, regardless of what each of our personal opinions on the matter are.
Probably for every one person who says they were on top of the vaccine problem from day one, there were/are five people who thought they would quite possibly die by going back out in the world without a vaccine. Silly, I know. But a fact nonetheless. Trump has only touted that specific aspect, speediness, and not prospectively promoting the product for future use. He probably anticipates the matter being brought up during the Presidential race and IMO is being very astute in his first strike framing of the matter.
***All the above just my personal opinion which is no more or less textbook correct than anyone else’s.

OTOH, if this was a DOD Operation, surely Trump would know.

Fire Fauci. Only recommend the vaccine to high risk people instead of going along with mandating it for everyone. Pulled federal funding from schools who wouldn’t open up in the fall along with the rest of the world. Not given away billions of $ so that everything could stay shut down.
I mean, there is a ton he could have done despite fast tracking the vaccine. He did none of it because he’s still a politician and self preservation/re-election was more important than all of the damage that the gov did in his last 8 months of his presidency.

Good thing Trump endorsed the vaccine.

One of the best decisions I ever made was not caving to these losers and taking that experimental garbage. These cock suckers threaten to fire/jail/embarrass/etc. people like me that didn't want to take the shot and will obviously not be held accountable for their illegal actions, which is mother fricking chicken shite.

He promoted it, but never mandated it. That’s about as libertarian of an approach as we can expect in a modern politician.
One does magnitudes of more harm than the other.

I concur, heads should roll.
