Didnt some companies like exxon just announce a lower-than-expected annual output for this year? That must be what is going on
And profit taking, and programmed trading, and fear of higher interest rates.

Of course, and that sucks for me because I'm buying a house--but whatever. It's basically because the economy is good though so I can't pretend to be upset about it.
I've often pointed out that NO economic data is 100% good.
Booming economy? Great. Rates rise.
Lackluster economy? Well, if you have a decent job, rates are low.......party!!!
Almost all economic indicators are like that.

You can tell money is flowing out of stocks into bonds. Bond yields are slightly lower than yesterday. That means today there is buying pressure on bonds compared to Friday.
I would presume a lot of investors are re-positioning their portfolios to be a little more bond heavy to take advantage of the higher and safer yields as the sentiment around the stock market was that it is getting a little lofty.

Here's what's happening. Trump allowed the Russians into the market, artificially inflated it, and now the Russians are selling off. Mission accomplished - they give Trump the election, he makes them rich.

That's it! Breadlines coming for sure, now!

I think a number to watch on the stocks on your watch lists in the coming days is short interest ratio.
That's going to be the "buy" indicator if there is one between now and the end of Feb.

You are being anything but objective.
Because I started a thread of a bad week in stocks?
Ok guys, you can only post positive things about the economy on this board or its viewed as Anti-Trump.

Celebrating a down stock market because it hurts trump is just SAD!

People taking profits. The nerve...

Well then, welcome to the board
And yes, I am going to be aggravating as hell as long as you post ridiculous drivel (and use "U" as a replacement for the word "you").

Yes its ok to be objective and post about what is going on in the country even though it may not necessarily make Trump look good. Today was a bad day at the market. I'm sure Trump won't lose any fans.
There's nothing objective about that quote.
You've had some reasoned and rational responses but instead of engaging in a dialogue to those posts in a similar manner you've decided to drag Trump into this because your entire reason for posting this in the first place was an attempt at a "gotcha!" to Trump supporters.
Try again.

Celebrating? I have a 401k, Roth, and individual stocks that are all tied to the markets. I'm far from celebrating.
You guys have a hard time handling the truth man.

You're right.
But I don't play the stock market anymore. Everything I own including all of my retirement savings is going into a small business started by my wife.

I'm celebrating because I'm taking profits and Repugs are not, out of misplaced confidence in the God Emperor.

The Fed has raised rates FOUR times over the last 14 months.
Well. It's still at a target of 1.25%-1.50%, they voted not to raise it, and they are still saying their inflation target is 2%.
They've let assets fall off their balance sheet, which is good so in a way they did just raise rates, I guess. 10 year yield is up 50 basis points. This is good action, but that doesn't mean it's not too slow.
So let's say Powell keeps the pace of Yellen and raises rates four times in the next 14 months. Is that good enough? Do we need rates above inflation or not?
