Wait wait... opening up the government acquisitions process to competing private companies is now considered a subsidy?! Amazing how this is getting spun into the "Amazon Amendment"

Good lord. Just google "Amazon subsidies" and take your pick. I do t have a problem with it....but denying they exist is silly.

I do. Busted out of the WPT event at Foxwoods in about 3 hours.

What does that have to do with you being an ignorant moron?

How would you interpret it? Because it sounds like you let others do the interpreting for you, linking "Amazon Amendment".

Amazon Amendment

quote:

The provision, dubbed the “Amazon amendment” by experts, according to an article in The Intercept, would allow for the creation of an online portal that government employees could use to purchase everyday items such as office supplies or furniture.

This government-only version of Amazon, which could potentially include a few other websites, would give participating companies direct access to the $53 billion market for government acquisitions of commercial products

So the government is creating an online procurement portal, and because Amazon is the largest online retailer, it is an Amazon subsidy? Am I following the logic correctly here?

FWIW, the Senate overhauled this provision quite dramatically.

Trump's wealthy friends tell him Amazon is destroying their businesses. His real estate buddies tell him — and he agrees — that Amazon is killing shopping malls and brick-and-mortar retailers.

I have friends who run locally owned businesses and are anything but wealthy. They do it because they are passionate about it and want to provide a local option to the community.

Amazon gets tax breaks that small businesses don’t, and if Trump wants to level the playing field, by all means I’d love to see him do it.

That's the colloquial name, fairly well known.

It basically hands the pentagons purchasing power over to Amazon. If that's not a gift, not sure what to tell you. I'll bet you'd shite bricks if it were Walmart.

You seem threatened. I called your bluff on the code and you were ready to move on. Looks like you can’t make a good arguement with points so you just use names and speak in broad ranges. You are a good Trumper. MAGA!

What the hell are you talking about? Your pointing to the use of the Code proves the point that Amazon is not a good example of free market capitalism. You proved my point.

What was my bluff about the Code? Specifically? Moron.

I've been told by this very board that tax breaks, aka letting people keep more of their money, =/= subsidies.

The one that was open to bid where Amazon beat IBM and an unnamed 3rd vendor?

The reworked version didn't do any of that, and even the original proposal was open to any vendor with the scale to create the portal. In fact, WalMart was often mentioned as another candidate along with Amazon.

To add, UPS and FedEx was open to bid for Amazon shipping business as well, but they went to USPS because they had the best deal
