A former associate of mine called me today. Seems like scuttlebutt is my ex-employer is planning to run an inventory and inspection on all fully automatic weapons owned by the civilian population.

They have this right, and it is clearly stated in the licensing agreement, that was submitted upon the weapon's registration application.
quote:

Keep the permit with the weapon at all times, whether in storage or in transit. You must also keep it stored in a securely locked safe. The Bureau has the right to inspect this storage at any time.

I suspect I will receive a registered letter the early days of Febuary.

Don't know if true, but I really do expect this to happen in the not to distant future.

Anyone with a individual form NFA item is first on the purge list

Registration was always a bad idea...

A neighbor sold all his full autos because he got sick and tired of keeping up with the license and having to give away so much freedom (i.e. not having to get a search permit to invade his home).

I think he can still convert existing equipment if needed. That is the unspoken widely known secret with guys and gals that have experience with this equipment.

There are probably over 1 million fully autos owned. ATF doesn’t have the manpower to come close to in home inspections.

This is exactly why I always decided against a suppressor. And this is what they'll continue to do rather than "come for your guns" (literally).. They'll just make it harder and harder to buy, own, and shoot guns.

Was there outrage when the NFA was enacted in 1934? Why can we suddenly not own all these things without big brother saying it's OK? The same thing will happen now. People will say. OMG. Tyranny.. But in their heart.. they'll be like.. well I still have what I have. i can still get them if I want to. but 30-40 years from now. They'll all be gone and back in the government's hands. That's all they want anyway. Then the real fun can start.

yep, I think America has plenty of experience "forged in fire" smiths that can set up a production line real fast.

If freaking commie Russia could build T-34 tanks in barns, Americans with modern Northern Handyman equipment can produce really cool stuff tomorrow.

Am I wrong?

Fun fact. Pistols were originally included in the NFA but were removed so it would pass.

Lets just say it doesnt require rocket science to make your own NFA items/other devices when you no longer care about its legality

Anyone who owns NFA items and doesn’t know this is possible or keep the appropriate forms and records handy is a fricking moron.

ATF doesn't have to have the manpower. They can push it down to the local level (state/county/city) and have them do the checks. Some jurisdictions won't comply, some will.

Look for the ones that don't comply to be removed and replaced in the name of national security.
