I completely agree. Nuke needs more investment and we need to maintain growth in wind and solar with storage support. Natural gas has become a great replacement for coal.

i'd keep going but seems an unfair fight
You shouldn't be so smug. We already utilize hydroelectric power where it makes sense to do so... We're pretty much tapped out.

I don't think they care. They just know that they are going to make billions off of it.

You're engaging in the fantasy that the people that think we can go all renewable are a lot more mainstream than they actually are.
You're absolutely right if we're talking about people that have been educated on the topic. However, there are plenty of normal folks who don't know much about this topic who believe it's possible, and not just idiots. Your average person doesn't know about the geographic limitations of these technologies, intermittency, etc.

Anyone who thinks the answer is all of one or the other is just completely wrong. We neeed diversity of generation type and location to support a stabile and flexible energy infrastructure.

Coal should be phased out as fast as possible and it has already been surpassed by natural gas which is a good step
Why? Why is coal the devil?
Posted on 9/19/19 at 7:16 pm to Powerman
Oh so we continue polluting the earff!

I didn't claim coal was the devil
I believe that it's preferable that it be displaced by natural gas
And evidently major energy companies agree with me
Posted on 9/19/19 at 7:25 pm to Powerman
Preferable or as soon as possible?

You have no idea what the frick you are talking about.
You also completely avoided my post describing how Hydro will never be able to replace hydrocarbons to make plastics and polymers like it’s does chemically right now.
You think hydro is going to make the parts for your iPhone?

If you pay much attention to energy you would know that it's happening at a very aggressive clip already
Coal has been on a huge decline over the last decade and it will continue to decline as it is slowly displaced by natural gas
Which begs the question why the frick anyone cares that much about coal mining jobs in the first place since the demand for their product is going to shite

Not what I asked you powerputz.

Doesn't seem like a very meaningful question to be honest...

Sure you said as soon as possible. How much tax money do we need to plow into it to fulfill your as soon as possible?
