I'm wondering. Is your point that since it can't pass, we shouldn't use it to evaluate voting for these idiots?

Not at all. 100% use it. My comment was only to seek clarity on the realistic possibility of such a plan.

It’s like that seinfeld episode when Kramer is trying to explain write offs to Jerry

quote:

Kramer: It's a write off for them.
Jerry: How is it a write off?
Kramer: They just write it off.
Jerry: Write it off of what?
Kramer: They just write it off!
Jerry: You don't even know what a write off is, do you?
Kramer: No. Do you?
Jerry: No I don't!!
Kramer: Well they do. And they’re the ones writing it off

How about taking that $1.6 trillion and invest in updating infrastructure and a new interstate/rail system and create jobs for all people who are buried with student debt? That way they can pay off their loan and you get an updated infrastructure.

We should just give the Dem nominee to Larry David. Hell he looks like Bernie but we would get a pretty good laugh at the debates.

My attitude on this is simple when it comes to the left.

EVERYTHING is a realistic possibility. It just depends on timeline.

For example, 20-30 years ago, people laughed when people pointed out that the logic being used to go after the tobacco industry was equally applicable to McDonalds and other similar businesses. Liberals said conservatives were "fearmongering"

Conservatives easily foresaw men pretending to be women would end up running around kicking female arse in sports. Liberals mocked.

I could go on and on.

Alas, we were right. As we pretty much fricking ALWAYS are about liberal intentions.

That's how you liberals work. You are all a bunch of gaslighting mother frickers.

Seems like a bit of an overreaction to a simple question I asked regarding congressional approval of a policy

Doe this plan essentially make all college "free" for everyone or does it only apply to people with current loan debt?

Yes! You’ve correctly guessed what’s behind door #3!!

Free college, free healthcare, and free houses for everybody! Even illegals! Eutopia!

Geez guys, I seriously was just asking if a student loan forgiveness plan had to have congressional approval or not. I assumed it did, but wasn't sure if an executive order could get around it.

There was no ulterior motive here, I promise

An EO to take that amount of money from the taxpayers?

Good grief.

That is going to get a ton of young people to the polls whether it is a good idea or not (and i don’t think it is). I mean if you were promised $30k in debt relief wouldn’t you go vote

You bring up a good point. There’s no such thing as a federal university, so the state-supported and locally controlled colleges (think JUCO) will be forced to raise taxes or take it in the shorts.

They MIGHT see some of this federal tax money, but then again, they might not.

The blame and furor will be on the states and local boards. Happens all the time... shite rolls downhill.
