Who's going to take it in the shorts if Warren or Sanders succeed in "forgiving" $1.6 trillion in student loan debt? Not the universities. Not the lending institutions.

Nope. They're going to "forgive" student loan debt by raising your taxes.

That means that YOU get the privilege under their plan of paying off someone else's kid's student loans as well as your own kid's student loans. You know that kid, right? She's the neighbor's kid, the neighbors who hate you because you're a conservative Trump supporter. Their daughter has racked up about 80k in student loan debt while she studies how to braid her underarm hair as a Radical Feminism major. Have fun working till you're 75 to pay off her debt.

quote:

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), who are both 2020 presidential candidates, have different student loan forgiveness plans. Sanders wants to forgive all $1.6 trillion of outstanding student loans, including both federal and private student loan debt. Sanders’ student loan forgiveness plan has no eligibility requirements; all 45 million student loan borrowers are eligible for student loan discharge. Sanders will fund his student loan forgiveness plan through a new tax on financial transactions, which he expects could raise more than $2 trillion over the next 10 years.

Warren wants to cancel student loan debt for more than 95% of borrowers, and would entirely cancel student loan debt for more than 75% of Americans with student loan debt. Warren’s plan cancels $50,000 in student loan debt for every person with household income under $100,000 and cancel substantial debt for every person with household income between $100,000 and $250,000. Like Sanders, Warren would fund student loan forgiveness through new taxes. Both Sanders and Warren say borrowers would not pay income taxes on the amount of student loans forgiven.

forbes

This is no different than Boss Tweed handing people money to vote.

Anything this big would have to get passed through Congress, wouldn't it? No chance that happens.

That's ok. Most of the idiots voting for these socialists are on the take anyway.

Again, you are dealing with a group in the populace that would fleece you then kill you. Simple as that. They have no qualms about making this known.

So that is just for current student loan debt?

What does it do for people taking out loans moving forward? Doe this plan essentially make all college "free" for everyone or does it only apply to people with current loan debt?

They don’t even understand how it will be done.

I’d rather just keep making my monthly payments then have my taxes sky rocket. I’ll end up paying a shite ton anyway.

They will have to carve out special treatment for one group at the expense of another,

and the group bearing the cost is supposed to shut up and take it.

Probably, but I don't think most people are getting the picture of what Sanders and Warren are actually proposing. Saying student loan debt will be "forgiven" makes it sound like the debt just goes away and the colleges and/or lending institutions will take the loss. I don't think most people realize that they're proposing that taxpayers will pay off the student loan debt of other's people's children.

Sanders, Warren and others like them want their jobs for life.
They think you should work till the day you die as well to help pay for their foolish dreams. Nothing is free, somebody is going to pay for it sooner or later.

Dems: We need to forgive student loan debt

Responsible people: Wait? I did it right and PAID for my child's education. Why do those that were irresponsible get a benefit?

THESE 'TARDS: Shut up, boomers. You don't get it. We DESERVE this break!

...later....

Dems: Those people without college educations do worse than those with. So, we are giving money to all without college educations to make it better for them.

THESE 'TARDS: WAIT...I did the RESPONSIBLE thing and GOT a college degree. Why are those irresponsible people getting a break?

I'm wondering. Is your point that since it can't pass, we shouldn't use it to evaluate voting for these idiots?
