The solution would have been to just not restrict any capacity

But you admit this isn't what happened...so where does this leave us?

The problem /issue is that they based so much on capacity, and big box stores have more capacity than mom and pops. They also have more employee leverage. Big box stores can do more, serve more customers, with fewer pro rata employees, than small stores.

So there are two sets of rules. One for us, one for them.

For example, if I tell you not to go on a road because it has potholes or is in poor condition, I am stating a condition exists, and can reasonably affirm this by explaining or showing you the conditions on the road. I am simply asking you to affirm the condition of the road.

Look, there is no need to get into this. I deny that there is anything remotely resembling the abstract concept of a free market. We sat right here and discussed a simple, relevant, timely example of this already. So whats the point in rehashing the chicken or egg here?

But just to reinforce the point, it's incorrect that I'm responsible for proving the condition of free markets actually exists. You are claiming that, not me. Unfortunately for your position, you actually agreed with me that there isn't a free market, so no matter how you view the burden of proof here, my conclusion is agreed upon.

The only discussions left concerns whether or not it should be a free market, or how the state botched a potential free market solution.

I'm am right at average intelligence. Believe me, the effort it requires to sound even intelligible is tremendous.

Government is having hearings to debate taking action against a PRIVATE employer because of worker complaints, that is not free market.

There is no free market. There is no balance in the market. There are oligarchs and then the rest of us.

Let's move beyond this talking point. You agree, I agree. The market isn't free. So what now?

You made a point?

You said my premise was stupid. You didn't make a point. My premise is anything but stupid, even it were actually wrong.

Having scrubbed toilets for 3.50 per hour I have very little sympathy for the Amazon workers. If your job sucks get a better one. You might need to get more education or specialized training.

A free market is not going to be balanced. It’s always going to favor the better business practices. Amazon beat out Barnes and Noble with branding, Netflix beat out Blockbuster with delivery methods, conservative talk radio beats liberal talk radio with message.

No offense intended, but I'm not in need of a refresher on free market theory. I have half the Austrian School works on my shelf and have followed many free market theorists for most of my life at this point. I respect and admire their work.

Amazon beat out everyone during the COVID lockdowns too. Mostly because there was never a mandate to stop their operations, whereas that was not the case for their competitors and others.

On the one hand, employers should treat employees respectfully and by that same token, if they aren’t, by all means leave, no one can nor should they compel you to work a shitty job.

On the other hand, frick Bezos.

So instead of blaming governors and mayors for the lockdown you want to blame Amazon? That’s stupid.

No. That's not what I said, never even implied it.

What I said is that the free market is abstract idea and does not describe real world conditions. I hope it's clear now.

I also said that Amazon is evil and simping for them under any circumstance is unacceptable.

Make sense?
