The majority of the libertarian movement has been co-opted by "it's the jews fault for everything" wing, much like the DSA has co-opted the democratic party.

Interesting enough both groups blame everything on jews.

Horseshoe theory on full display.

Absolutely not. The Democrats, yes. The RINOs, yes. Trump is doing what he can to save America with most of his policies. I understand why some people have a problem with the way he is getting things done, and some of those arguments are justified. I consider myself a libertarian and he has my support.

I don’t give two fricks about “our” liberty. I care about MY liberty, to which Donald Trump’s enemies are the greatest threat.

He's a threat, when it's the Dems who want to change the Constitution in various ways, let criminals out with a slap on the wrist, fight to keep illegal alien predators in our country, etc etc? F this guy. "Libertarians" are just Dems who don't have the balls to call themselves Dems.

I’ve never met one that wasn’t obviously a raging Democrat.

It's crazy the way that times have changed. I remember when libertarians were very, very fiercely independent.
Back in the days when I thought I was libertarian (mid 90's), I'd have argued being called a Republican, and kicked somebody's arse if they called me a Democrat more than once.
But "live and let live" didn't fit in with the stuff that was coming out in the 90's that I was raised to believe in, or things that I could support. And I was finally starting to grow up.

But it goes to show what happens when you let a plague (libs) go unchecked. It infects everything.

"Would you fight for your country?"
I won't fight or bleed for damned progressives. Nor the liberals. And I sure as all hell won't fight for the damned Democrats

Lulz

I have far exceeded all my hopes
quote:

just don't care about the debt

Nope. Which is 76% owned by Americans who are NOT going to default on their own country. Plus, the majority of foreign nations holding debt are now NATO countries. Which will be negotiated away, if necessary

government spending

Is inevitable. The last time the US had a balanced budget was 25 years ago. The population was 279M. Currently its 350M (plus illegals). Thats a 26% increase. Our fed taxes havent risen to match the services required. So you have to raise taxes

But libertarians dont want taxes, even to meet growth.

A lot of these people claiming to be libertarians are whackos, some are Democrats pretending to be Libertarians. True Libertarians want smaller government and less spending and that’s about it.

Trump is shrinking the size of the federal government so I applaud him. We aren’t spending less though. The Republicans like to spend just as much as the Democrats, and many of them are for bigger government.

Don’t look at what they say they’ll do, look at what they’ve done in the past. Libertarians view Ds and Rs as two sides of the same coin, and for good reason.

Liberty

Great ideas, not very practical in today's world. You have to have a self governing, agreeable, community for it to work at the lowest level.

That is Libertarians as in party and not libertarians as in political belief. You should know that, but not surprised you do not.

And no. I do not agree even though I am a libertarian.

Yes.

You should also know political history, but I am not surprised you do not. Progressives in tUSA rebranded themselves as liberals in the early 1900's. Spent a lot on money on it. Dumbasses, who know nothing about politics or politicals beliefs, yet still post on political boards, bought that rebranding hook, line and sinker.

It’s so obvious what you’re trying to do. Deep down, you know the midterms aren’t going to go well, so you’re relentlessly trying to set up someone/thing to blame.

You’re a shill no different than CNN.

Liberty

Such horseshite

Are all liberal-tarians like SFP? You dont understand basic terms? Try looking up the history of the word libertarian. I know you wont, so here it is
quote:

Where Does the Term “Libertarian” Come From

It emerged in the 1950s as the replacement for the word "liberal." Records shows that it is a synonym for what liberal once meant. But by the mid-1930s, that word had been completely hijacked to mean its opposite.

And keep in mind that the word “conservative” had yet to emerge: Russell Kirk’s The Conservative Mind wasn’t published until 1953. Kirk barely mentioned economics at all, and the traditionalism he highlighted in the book seemed to exclude the classical liberal tradition of Hume, Smith, Jefferson, and Paine.

So the 1950s was the definging point where liberals became socialists and conservatives became traditionalists. The adoptions of these terms from the classical thinkers had been erased. A solution was proposed by Dean Russell, a historian of thought and a colleague of Read’s who had translated many works of Frédéric Bastiat. In May 1955, he wrote the seminal piece that proposed that the term libertarian be revived:

Many of us call ourselves “liberals.” And it is true that the word “liberal” once described persons who respected the individual and feared the use of mass compulsions. But the leftists have now corrupted that once-proud term to identify themselves and their program of more government ownership of property and more controls over persons. As a result, those of us who believe in freedom must explain that when we call ourselves liberals, we mean liberals in the uncorrupted classical sense. At best, this is awkward and subject to misunderstanding.

Here is a suggestion: Let those of us trade-mark and reserve for our own use the good and honorable word “libertarian.””

The term classical liberalism died in the US 75 years ago. Liberals are socialists today. Traditionalists are conservatives today. And libertarians are neither, in present day America. You are socially liberal, but dont want to hang with them, because they keep reaching into your pocketbook. So you want to have some influence on the traditionalists for economic reasons, but want us to abandon our religions, our patriotism, and social conservatism
