He knew the CEO would be there.
This is the thing. He was from out of town, there for a presentation, and the shooter knew it obviously. It is one of two things, a vendetta against him from work/insurance industry, or the wifey put out a hit. But, if the casings had writing on them, doubt a hit...unless it is to throw them off.

quote:First of all, if this guy was a CEO of a company that made brillo pads I'd be thinking wife/kids/mistress paid-for hit. And, they'd be already zero'g in on him.
Do you think that’s a small number of people or a large number?
But, I don't. I think pissed off customer; and it will take months. But to the OP's question I do think they will eventually will catch him. To your question- yes, that number is huge. But because of that there's several things I think get this down into the thousands right off the bat. It will take investigators weeks or months, but the elimination factors are there:
A) white
B) this one will be an assumption- not from NY
C) familiar with weapons
D) severity of causation (this wasn't over a broken toe claim, somebody died or had major life altering ins. claim)
E) the claimant was most likely female or child because of male (maybe?) shooter
F) escalation
F is the important one and will cost them the most time. This guy didn't get a denied claim on his daughters pinky toe and went straight to killing. This guy, I think pissed off claimant, obviously preplanned a bunch. Not only did the guy plan for a while, including some form of stalking, but he escalated to that. He proably was one of the threats. He probably contacted multiple lawyers about suing and was told he had no case. He very likely has talked about being wronged on some form of social media. He may have posted reviews or complained to a regulatory body.
After that, assuming he isn't from NY, they will look to see who wasn't at work or where they normally be for at least 2 in the middle of a work week (the day before the shooting, the day of the shooting).
That will get it into the hundreds I think.
If he is from NY/NJ/CN or driving distance, and they don't get a car (appears he didn't drive), they are fricked. Without the list of people who traveled and escalated (take one of the two away) that list doesn't get whittled down and stays way to large to start digging into individual profiles and interviews.

I think pissed off customer
Certainly a possibility but how would a pissed off customer get not only the city of where CEO went to, but also the hotel and the time he came out. That info was given to him imo. Check with his assistant and what the wife has been up to.

Also have to wonder who is gonna squeal on him, like a coworker or boss. Given the heavy police response to everything and what was left at the crime scene it’s probably just a matter of time. If it was some random drug dealer or pimp maybe he gets away. CEO for a big company in public they’re definitely not letting up on the investigation

If this is an insurance play by the wife maybe the son gets threatened with obstruction and talks.
If disgruntled customer, maybe someone sees the backpack get into a car with NE plates and "sees something, says something".
Maybe a pissed off girlfriend hasn't heard from her boyfriend in 3 days and gets high and decides to drop a dime on him because she's sure that's her guy.
Robbery can be ruled out and random pretty much could.
In the end, they get their list. Cut it down. Then whittle it down. Then start the digitial forensics, whittle it down a little bit more. Then interviews, nail them down with a statement & alibi, see who is lying- whittled down a little bit more. Then they interview a second time, get into the financials, and threaten with jail time during the interview. Then somebody talks.

But one thing is bugging me, we know he wasn't real close to the hotel entrance. He was on 6th ave, staying at the Hilton which is also on 6th av. But what was his direction of travel? They didn't say (the never say, fricking media).
Here's what's bugging me- was he travelling towards the Hilton? If so there's a whole other dimension now. That opens up the pissed off boyfriend, not his family, dimension. Unless they find the side piece, IF that's the case, they won't find the shooter because he's local and that's how he was able to stalk him by stalking the side piece. Lots of connective tissue lost IF that's the case.
So was he walking away or towards the Hilton entrance?

Per CNN:
Investigators told CNN that after the shooting, the assailant crossed the street from the Hilton, fled through an alleyway, and got on an electric bike on 55th Street before heading north on 6th Avenue toward Central Park, where he was last seen at 6:48 a.m.

This is interesting as well to add on to the search warrant

Officials are also looking into whether the bike was prepositioned, because they think the suspect may have taken the subway from the Upper West Side to Midtown, according to law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation. Investigators also have video of the suspect on the Upper West Side, carrying what appears to be an electric bicycle battery, the sources said. Also on the Upper West Side, police have searched a hostel where they believe the suspect may have been staying. The shooter stayed in a multi-person room with two other males, a law enforcement source said, and appeared to wear a mask during most of his stay. Further details of what the search turned up were not immediately clear.

How long were those items in the trash before they were recovered bc it certainly wasn’t immediately.

This guy isn't going to be standing on a soap box screaming how he was screwed over by United Healthcare. The planning took time and effort. If this wasn't a targeted hit, it's a vengeance killing by a very smart loose screw.

All of the cameras taking video will do him in....I've seen too many ID shows....

I wouldn't be surprised if the FBI knows who it was but lets him get away and covers for him

The real question is do “they” want to catch him?

You gonna post it? Photo from where? They have an identity? A sketch? Provide some substance with your post.
