10 years or so ago I would have been 100% fine with such a decision. This is a crazy guy, a rather extreme individual and prosecutors (I thought) erred on the side of restraint and this guy deserves none.
But now that we see how insane some of these prosecutors can be: as in the widespread selectively prosecuting certain crimes, selectively prosecuting certain types of people, going after people based on their politics, etc. - I now can see the real danger in an opinion like this.

Just a question/experiment here: If it were known that I have significant mental health problems, and I were also known to have a couple of ARs, and I posted on Facebook that within the next 24 hours I am preparing to blow away each member of displacedbuckeye’s family……..what if anything would you like to see happen subsequent to those threats?

I guess I’m missing your assertion about the lawyers. Exactly what are you insinuating about lawyers having a heyday with this moving forward?
Ambiguity. For instance, a person feels "threatened" because someone legally carrying a gun makes eye contact with them.
What happens next is now an unknown!!

You should be arrested for your threat. At bail hearing prosecutor should argue you are a credible threat to murder and bail should be denied.
All sorts of things can come out from this. Perhaps as a condition of bail you agree to turn over your guns until case is resolved, etc.
Or you are found not to be a credible threat and you go home.

So you’re simply going to go on guard duty and hope you have all the bases covered and won’t be caught slipping in any way? I’m worried for your family right now and we’re only talking about a hypothetical situation. Hell.
Another question: what’s the extent of your experience with domestic violence/abuse? I’ll say this - there’s no other situation that involves more emotion and potential loss of one’s shite (legal terminology amirite) than heated domestic problems. Which is why it’s specifically at the center of this ruling. Plus anyway I know at least Louisiana has had laws on the books for some time now that prohibit possessing firearms if you have a protective order against you. That may be the case in all states actually.

In the scenario I described there is absolutely no crime committed, yet.

I wouldn't change a thing.
You accepting your failure is noted.

You clearly have no personal experience with the dark side of humanity. Good for you.

Interesting that no one on this board seemed to care about it until today....

I have direct experience with the worst our species has to offer. You're afraid and you're willing to give up your rights because of that fear. I am not.

I know that, in Illinois, when I was in Recruiting, we dealt with multiple Lautenberg cases among applicants where the individual yelled at his parents and the parents filed domestic abuse charges.

That’s where even just a decent defense attorney comes in handy.

Sure.
How much justice can you afford?

The "if you've done nothing wrong, what are you worried about" argument from these Fudds is amazing to watch.

This is where my BIL is currently at. He’s lucky he’s in a conservative county.
