SS is your money. It’s not some fund the government gives out. A billionaire deserves their own money they put in just like every other citizen. Their money isn’t just sitting in an account either. It’s paying employees and operating a business and part of the economy. These people are not stupid. Take more money from them and they will just fire more workers, take their benefits away and slow down investments. They will always make their money as they should because no one says you have to employ anyone and if a government is going to make a decision to go after their money then that will do nothing but start down a trickle effect on their employees and the economy. The fact the people don’t understand this is really unbelievable to me. Smart business owners will still make the exact same money. Your literally hurting the middle class, poor and uneducated people in the country because I promise they will be the first ones to losses their jobs or have their benefits cut, etc.

Life isn’t fair. Everyone grows up in different situations. It’s what you do with that is what makes this America. Their will always be a upper, middle and lower class and you need all 3 for our economy to work. Where you fall in that is up to you and you only but don’t fault a person for making a lot of money.

It's the same reason conservatives think money transferred to poor people via welfare is removed from the economy.

People believe what confirms their bias.

Apparently it is a great public service by the poor to prop up Walmart, Coke, Miller and Busch, Hennessy, a bunch of Mexican weed farmers, and the coca producers of Peru, Bolivia, and Colombia.

So Sam took advantage of these poor people to create his empire. Evil.

Bruh, large corporations (think also junk food manufacturers) absolutely lobby the government for welfare benefits to the poor, knowing that they will benefit.

Why can’t you boomer conservatives be angry with that facet of welfare too?

Oh I’m angry with most facets of welfare. And the somewhat easy manipulation of large corporations to take advantage of those less fortunate. I don’t however make the less fortunate waste their free money at these establishments. Guess I was raised differently.

Got me, I am a boomer. And like holding on to what is mine.

Sam also created wealth for his employees by implementing profit sharing and employee stock ownership.

Some people that started 30 years ago and work their way up retire millionaires.

Unfortunately, now that level of stock growth may not be as great as it was since Walmart has plateaued. Also if you can work your way up to a store manager position, you can earn 6 figures.

So Sam was ahead of some of these bleeding heart liberals.

Also, employment needs to be a mindset to work hard and earn more, but now we have a culture of earn less and collect a government check.

Well he has enough to drop 10 billion on social media and television advertising for his campaign. Problem with a lot of these billionaires is they are new rich, many of whom made their fortune in tech/media/computing. They are almost to a man/woman liberal/progressive and they drop a lot of coin on this sorts of politics. As much as I want to love my fellow man including billionaires, I also am suspicious of those bastads.

Why do you hate capitalism? Are you a Bernie-bot?

Walton's model was to try to get $1 from 100 people rather than $100 from 1 person.

The point is that the welfare money that his customers brought into the store stayed in the economy. So, in effect, it's not a transfer of wealth from the rich to the poor, as the poor are merely a pass-through. The poor aren't getting wealthy from welfare, but Sam Walton sure did.

You literally should be thanking these people for starting a business that makes so much money they can pay billions in taxes every single year and employ so many people.

Yeah in silicon valley all those people can be commie/libs to the extent that they shut out opposing thoughts in their cushy, protected work environments. Bezos is going to drop 10 billion on climate change. Rush says he will buy every journalist, college administration and faculty to associate with his view. Billionaires, I respect their business acumen but I don't trust them. Give me a bunch more Republican billionaires.

Swing and a miss. My response was tongue in cheek but you would rather deflect from the intent of the comment. No burny bot, sorry.

And no I believe everyone should be able to make a fortune. You mentioned Walton and I expanded the thought. Try taking welfare money away. See who screams the loudest.

I'm afraid you're the one deflecting.

The question was asked why Democrats think the rich are removing money from the economy, and I merely pointed out that it was for the same reasons that Republicans think welfare removes money from the economy. Neither in fact do, but people want to believe what confirms their bias.

Sam Walton was my example of an entrepreneur accumulating wealth by keeping the poor engaged in the economy and using welfare money to invest in not only his business, but other businesses as well.

Accumulating wealth does not remove money from the economy, and welfare does not remove money from the economy, but people believe what they want to believe.

If you are talking about the initial question that started this thread then you are confused.

They call it, "transfer of wealth" as if the poor are building wealth through welfare, when in fact they are just passing it through on their way to receiving goods and services. Welfare is not a black hole through which money disappears, it is a way to keep the poor engaged in the economy.

Yes, this board is lousy with people who think welfare sequesters wealth.
