It would take lifetimes to get out of debt by growing the economy with shrinking population growth.

You would need some miracle technology to boost productivity, which then replaces humans.

The debt ceiling has never curbed a cent of spending. It's primarily a political football. I don't love this line of thinking Trump's running with, but the truth is that as long as the fed is at the disposal of corporate lobby armies in this country, spending will never be reigned in.

Unfortunately most people who post here do not have either the attention span or the brain capacity to understand this.

The debt ceiling is irrelevant on its own, we have gone 2 years without one. None of these CuckTards even noticed. Except SFP, he did whine about it 2 years ago but then conveniently forgot about it until this week.

The world didn't end in the last 2 years. The world won't end if it gets paused for another 2 or 4 years.

The only purpose it serves is for Democrats to have a weapon to get the GOPeCucks to capitulate every time a bill comes up.

Why does Trump care, especially if DOGE is supposed to go all Ozempic on the federal government?

Because with a fake debt ceiling it makes tax cuts harder to pass. It makes anything and everything Trump wants to do harder to pass. Like it or not, thanks to the Constitution there has to be compromise to get shite done. Reinstating an arbitrary debt ceiling on Jan 1 2025 will be exploited by the America Last contingent in Congress to obstruct Trump.

Americans voted to MAGA. Trump will find a way, this just makes it more difficult.

That worked well the last 4 years with Biden giving out billions of dollars that was never approved.

This is the correct answer.

Arguing over the debt ceiling is not going to be what cuts spending.

I told y’all yesterday that SFP wants it to default under Trump. He wants Trump to literally self-castrate his entire presidency because MUH PRINCIPLE.

More of the same. Trump wants a blank check to continue deficit spending, he also will continue to send money to Ukraine.

We were lied to, and he is quickly losing my support.

If you didn't learn several years ago to ignore what Trump says and watch what he does I don't know what to tell you. Many people on this forum have stated versions of this repeatedly but the clapping seals go toddler on the topic.

People who thought Trump being a lame duck would allow him to wreck all this stuff without having to worry about another election to worry about don't understand his motivation. He wants to be adored; that's it. You ain't doing that and making tough choices on the economy at the same time.

Since 2009, it's been how we operate, which is why the debt is out of control.

Because when you are maxed out at the bank, they always raise your debt limit.
It's just sound financial practice. Right.

Without a debt ceiling is there any incentive to curb spending or shrink federal government?

With it there are constant bullshite spending packages that get passed to prevent a "shutdown". It's theater. Each side used it as an excuse to let bullshite pork barrel spending through. It always, always gets raised. Do away with it for four years and let's see how it goes.

Take financial advice from a guy that's declared bankruptcy several times?

What could go wrong?

We did the last 2 years. Didn't work out well at all. How do you think all that Ukraine funding happened?

Whats the point of a debt ceiling if the Congress just keeps raising it every year and continues their deficit spending.
Trump needs to cut the spending when he gets there and he won't need the debt ceiling. Or he may be at the helm when it all crashes down.
