“Lucifer” in your KJV was translated from “Phosphorus” in the Greek which was translated from “Helel” in Hebrew. Helel Ben Shahar. Helel, a proper name, means something like “shining one”. Of course Shahar being the morning star is also a shining one, so it makes sense his son would also shine.

What is going on in Isaiah 14:12 is the king of Babylon is being compared to Helel, son of Shahar, who tried to usurp El Elyon (Yahweh’s father) and become the king of the gods, but failed. This is a Canaanite myth that is all spelled out in detail in the Ugaritic tablets found at Rosh Shamra, Syria, and dates to around 1300BCE or about 700 years before the book of Isaiah was compiled.
