There are straight couples that have sex on network tv nowadays. That isn't "hypersexual?" You are selectively picking out an example that fits your narrative.
A gay couple simply existing in a short story, or one that is holding hands or even that kiss (the horror) is no more hypersexual than any other Disney movie featuring a man and woman.

How is his method worse for the children? Assuming you are home with them and this topic comes up, at least you are there to answer any questions they may have. Your shelter method only leads to kids finding out on their own.
