My personal favorite are the 16th century native Central Americans, whose ancestors are all in hell because they lived and died worshipping false deities and never knowing of Jesus, who all got smallpox from Christian Europeans.

This is kinda my argument as well. Old Testament god, maybe I could kinda see trump fitting in? Tragic figure rising to lead and realizing god's power maybe?

New Testament god? Not so much.

Roger ... boy, do I hear you. It can be hard for us to imagine that any of our problems are important enough to take to God. I think that's one of the most challenging realities that Christian's face--accepting such unconditional love, when each of us is so flawed. Daily I ask God what I've done to deserve His mercy and grace. It's something I'm working on.

Yes, you ARE "so special" (your sardonic words) that God wants to intervene in your life constantly. You're His son. He wants to have a relationship with you. It's a tough pill to swallow, isn't it?

Re: the election ... as others in this thread have already said, rather than asking God for a particular candidate to be elected, I think most Christians prayed to find a peace that passes understanding once God's will had been done.

This verse from Philippians 4:6 is a great reminder about what we've discussed in this thread: “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

God had Donald Trump elected because enough people prayed for it.

That's not what I believe.
So if that's the point Srbtiger(?) was making with his comment to me (thank you for clarifying, btw), it's moot.

So god is a Republican? Please explain why he would intervene in American politics.

No. God doesn't choose winners and losers. Otherwise Notre Dame wouldn't suck so bad.

I did. I'm amazed that so many people think their prays helped elect him. What in your eyes makes him favored by god?

It was never about Trump for me. It was about the country. This crap just had to stop. It was like a runaway train. I'm not wild about Trump, but he was by far the best alternative.

You don't understand prayer.

One prays for God's will to be done. One prays that one's desires fall within the will of God. One understands that sometimes an answer to prayer is not that what was prayed for. One also understands that sometimes an answer to prayer is no answer at all (on one's timetable).

Praying isn't rubbing a lamp and having a genie pop out, son.

Prayers were for our country and the election process.
God's will--for whatever reason--was that this particular man be POTUS at this particular moment in history.
I couldn't begin to know what the reason is.
