Most of those who voted for him don’t care & the others don’t want to end the war..
Why the fuss?

“Day One“ It’s always figurative speak, not literal. Why do people pretend that they don’t understand?
Well, he also said he could end it in 24 hours, so Trump went well beyond the normal politician speak here.
So maybe it wasn’t figurative speech, and was more of a fundamental miscalculation of his own abilities and of the situation

And when would he have time for that?
It’s still figurative. Not literal.

It was pretty clear that he was speaking literally:
Trump speaks with confidence.. on everything, all the time. The best confidence- Confidence unlike any the world has seen. Some even say, the most confidence of any man ever.
Bill- surely you know this.
In May of 2023, maybe he very well COULD have put the end in motion.
By January 2025, a lot had changed.

could be stopped on Day One of his Presidency
It certainly could have been stopped for US involvement, which would have resulted in an almost immediate end as well... Probably would not have sat well with many folks and would have been more wailing and gnashing of teeth...

If so, what changed?
He is doing his best to end it in a manner that is "acceptable"...
Either way, folks like you would be whining and questioning his actions over and over...

No, he didn’t believe it. It just sounded good. Trump likes to say things that sound good because his base eats it up.
He used to get his rallies all charged up with “Lock her Up”. It’s just performative.

Its unfortunare Zelensky is a weasel and didnt end it a month ago
Midget Zelenskyy has no leverage. Trump has been a failure at promising to end this war. It was extremely stupid to say he would end it before he took office. Just dumb.

That Zelensky renegged on the deal multiple times
I think that's the best Pro-Trump explanation.
Like most on this Board, at that point I wish President Trump would have abandoned the goal of ending the war and just settled on washing our hands of the matter. We should leave European problems to the Europeans.

Or a miscalculation that Z actually gives two hoots about the countrymen he leads.

This 100%. It's wild how many people ignore all common sense and want to use this as some gotcha. Politicians, and others in positions of authority, have been saying "on day one" on things forever. People always knew that was figurative, meaning starting on it as soon as possible. But the detractors have to hold Trump to a different standard, because they just need to get a "win".

Only an idiot believes Trump was being literal when he said "Day One" or "24 hours".
Unfortunately for all of us, Trump has run up against a war machine that is so entrenched here and in the EU, that getting a peace deal has become ridiculous. He is undermined at every turn.
Time to cut bait.

Bite me.
If Trump has acted decisively after the Zelenskyy White House visit and permanently cut off aid to Ukraine, like most on this Board, I would have applauded that.

24 hours = 1 day.
C’mon, man!

Yep. Trump should just make an announcement that we have already given Ukraine 'X' amount of Billions of dollars and we are bowing out and the Euro poors can now try and find a solution. Its gone on long enough and our intervention hasn't done anything except waste money and lives.

When you begin with “tards”, the following dialog is moot.

What really bad things are we talking about here?

Only Trump didn't say Day One he said multiple times including on the Patrick Bet-David podcast he would end it BEFORE he even took office
