I haven't seen any speculation on this, but the timing would suggest that a deal may have been struck. And now that Trump has added the Save Act to the Pentagon funding bill, which could pass with 50 + 1 (Vance), things could get.....

Does everyone remember all of the "principled conservatives" around here who objected to adding the SAVE Act onto the FISA reauthorization? frickin traitors.

At this point Susan Collins will no longer be rewarded by her constituency for being "slightly left of center". There is a true leftie choice in Maine now. Better to do a few right things.

Nah, she has to walk a tightrope in Maine to stay in office. It's a weird state a lot of Massholes moved there.

Traditionally, citizens of Maine are leery of anyone from outside of the state While they might be courteous they wish you would leave. They trust outsiders as much as a small inbred town does.

Another example of liberals running from liberal policies and then voting for liberals to screw up another state.

As annoying as Collins is, her vote on Senate leadership is a big deal for the GOP. Even if it is the only vote that can be relied on.

I can only think of lobsters and logging as its economic engines. There is tourism in the summer months. Wife would go there with her parents for a lawyer convention annually in the 1960's.
