I love it, defend the motherfricking president for his juvenile remark on national television by saying "hey look this fricking comedian is way more juvenile than him".

Keep it coming, guys. Comedy gold in here.

I am not defending anyone. I neither voted for Trump nor support his policies when they run counter to my own.

You stated people were holding Colbert to a higher standard. You were clearly wrong and I understand the need for you to deflect.

Face it, you have no standard, you just want Trump to be attacked.

But hey no worries, there are millions out there just like you!

So, Colbert is the defender of all that is right and just?
What? I explained that he fought back against Trump on behalf of his "CBS family". I didn't say shite about what's right and just, I only pointed out what kicked off this particular rant.

And don't kid yourself. he didn't go on his rant for that. he has been ranting about Trump since before the election.
He gives his audience what it wants, just like Trump.

The schtick is tiresome.
Then don't watch it.

Trump says outrageous shite all the time for ratings and/or manipulation, and you guys are here complaining about a comedian doing the same? Laughable, don't you think?

Also, in case it wasn't clear, he went on this name-calling tirade because Trump called the show "Deface the Nation". But yeah, let's just let the POTUS be as juvenile as he wants, but hold comedians to a higher standard.

The POTUS calling his show "Deface the Nation" is quite different than Colbert saying the POTUS has another nation's leader's dick in his mouth.

I hate you stupid people.

Can you imagine the outrage if you switched "Trump" with "Obama?" Colbert would probably lose his job.

I think it is childish and extremely disrespectful to call the President of the United States a cocksucker on national television. I know Trump is not your average President, but Colbert totally stepped over the line with that monologue. It's a shame that his viewers ate it all up.

I agree.

The liberal left don't know how to be funny, because in most cases they aren't trying to be funny they are campaigning.

I will give them Melissa McCarthy... doing Sean Spicer, it was funny-- but that is even old now.

I can be a hypocrite all I like, and it doesn't make a frick's bit of difference to anything.

You seem to have fallen victim to a logical fallacy, tu quoque. Neither my actions nor my words invalidate my point, which is that the president should conduct himself with more dignity than a comedian.

Speaking of childish- your point itself is childish. So and so did this so I'm going to do it too- stated like a true 6 year old. But mommmmm- he did it.
Tu quoque.

Sometimes the best way to point out certain behavior is to do it yourself. The fact remains, we aren't the fricking president.

Get back with me when Trump calls another world leader a dick sucker. Because that's what your little hero did.

I thought it was funny and good up until he said what he said about a "cuck-holster" for Putin.

The Russian thing is getting old as frick, and that comment was ridiculous. But, whatever. Big whoopie.

I am all for back and forth jabs from the left and right as Obama was getting blazoned himself while in office from the "Alt-right"aka other news not in the maintstream.

But, incendiary comments like Colbert's is truly going over the line. I don't understand the need.

Absolutely not.

I don't like Trump all that much, but there is a lot of fake news out there (both sides) and Trump is certainly entitled to go after a media bloc that is aligned against him and increasingly dishonest.
Again, absolutely not. Trump should do his job, which does not involve attempting to silence particular media outlets. If he would just do his fricking job and forget about all the bullshite, a lot of the media "attacks" would go away. But he just can't help himself.

Horse shite. The left media isn't in the business of journalism any longer. They are simply attack dogs.

The whole if you ignore them they will go away/play nice non-sense is bunk and you know it.

Uh, my standard is the leader of the free world should not stoop to name-calling. I don't give a frick what a comedian says, but I do give a frick about his right to say whatever he wants.

You really believe he looks at his rivals as family? I was a Communications major and worked in radio for several years. Trust me...nobody in that business looks at others as "family". It's the most back biting, two faced industry I have ever been a part of.

quote:

He gives his audience what it wants, just like Trump.

So is he giving his audience what it wants, or is he defending his "family"?

quote:

Then don't watch it.

I don't. I suspect a lot of other people will stop, too. of course, those on the left just say, ignore it....or don't watch it. But if a conservative speaker goes to a college campus to speak they go ape wild and start burning and looting. Maybe you should tell ANTIFA to just stay home and ignore it?

quote:

Trump says outrageous shite all the time for ratings and/or manipulation, and you guys are here complaining about a comedian doing the same? Laughable, don't you think?

Not surprising that you don't see the difference. The language, symbolism. Reverse the two roles and you would be all over a conservative that said that about Obama. But because it is about Trump...., "Don't watch it."

Hypocrites.

You're right, the major difference being POTUS is POTUS and Colbert is not. PLENTY of people have said similar things about Trump and Putin, why can't Colbert?

And is Colbert's comment better or worse than talking about grabbing women by the pussy?

This is true. He was criticized incessantly. I don't recall anybody calling him that, though. I wonder what would have happened if they had?
Shoot, if you disagreed in public with anything he did you were called racist. the left is all for free speech as long as it is their speech that is being protected.

First, Colbert is not my "little hero". Sometimes he's funny, sometimes he's not. But you will never catch me getting upset over an obvious joke from the mouth of a comedian. That's what snowflakes do.

well he said it on airwaves owned by the gubment...I guess all of a sudden you care about the FCC. he's going to get fined too which is bullshite and CBS has a history of just bowing down every time.

unless you're oprah, they're going to bust you every time on that.

not only did he say cock, he talked about a cock going into a mouth...I would be shocked if he wasn't fined.

I think the whole point of living in a free nation is you can call the president just about anything.

and so if a conservative would have called Barry one would be labeled a laundry list of names. Top of it would be racist. Then said conservative would be fired.

And yes he's free to say it, doesn't mean the PC culture isn't going to revolt and demand action.

The POTUS, no matter how you feel about him. Deserves respect. To call him a cock sucker or a cock holster on network TV is pretty bad. Regardless whether it's guarded by the constitution.

You probably shouldn't disregard all media that you don't personally like or agree with as worthless non-journalism. We all need to exit our respective echo chambers every once in a while.

It will never go away, there will always be detractors. I said "a lot" of it will go away. You have to admit that Trump doesn't do himself any favors with the media. Playing the game he's playing definitely isn't going to make them go away.

No checkmate. You admitted your hypocrisy and we moved on.

You are white knighting for Colbert. That would indicate some level of hero worship, no?
