Exactly. It reminds me of a sports team who acts like they are the only team in the world who has to deal with injuries forgetting that every other team also has to deal with injuries

Sounds like the company should be called Beijing Axle

I hate companies that use names like that to imply it’s American products

I doubt Wal Mart or Dollar Tree will let themselves to close due to crippling tariffs. Much of their stuff comes from China now. No more Sam Walton's Made in the USA policy.

I work in the retail aftermarket and buy CVs… there are no full line US CV axle manufacturers in the US… of the the major players capable of full line coverage almost all are Chinese owned (even if they moved production from mainland China to Mexico, Thailand, etc…). Buy from wherever you want, it’s all Chinese. I wish I could buy American….

Luckily I work at a company that doesn’t live on razor wire margins, saving us from massive layoffs and other turmoil, and has the weight to have favorable VAs.

Lastly, if you are in the import business and you don’t demand the manufacturer absorb as much as the tariff as possible, you probably aren’t very good at your job. Tariffs are paid by the manufacturer, the retailers, and the customers, all to varying degrees by product. Everyone gets a piece at the end, but the end customer is rarely ever paying all the tariff.

Sounds like instead of "Detroit Axle" they should rename to "Temu Axle".

I have zero sympathy with companies or individuals suffering under tariffs. You engaged in international trade over vast oceans with a hostile communist country and expect everything to work out for you?

I trade in the stock market and don't cry when a trade burns me.

I mainly posted it because you guys seem to have in your heads there is no real-world impact to whatever Trump's retarded plan is. A thriving company with 500 employees is going to be ground to dust because of government intervention in markets.

A company with 500 employees who’s reliant on the de minimus exception? I’d bet their accountants are currently scrambling to get their effects in order before the IRS arrives.

While I get that sentiment, it’s not that easy. SJB901Tiger is right. When it comes to axles, wheels, and many other steel and aluminum products there is no manufacturing in the US. Our distribution company has had to increase cost to dealer on average about 12% depending on supplier. We’ve eaten part of it, and the manufacturer has eaten part of it leaving 12% for the dealerships to take. The dealership will either pass all of it on to the consumer or they may choose to eat a few percentage points as well.

I have purchased rotors and brake sets from Detroit Axel. The products are average at best. The one thing you will not see on the Detroit Axel website is where their products are manufactured and that is because they are all manufactured or remanufactured in China.

Most home grease monkey's such as myself would pay a few extra bucks to get a part that is produced in the United States, which is hard to do these days. Even Canada or Hencho en Mexico is more desirable than China.

Detroit Axel is basically a large scale drop shipper that chose profits over people long ago when they decided to source all their products from China.

Good riddance to Detroit Axle.

Lol what a joke.

They are most likely closing due to poor sales and poor business management not tarrifs

Tarrifs haven't even hit yet how could they be affected

Reality doesn’t match that. You may be willing to but most people aren’t.

Are you wearing clothes and shoes made in the US?

"Are you wearing clothes and shoes made in the US? "

I do try to find clothes that are made in the U.S. that are at a reasonable price point and do choose those when available, but I purposely avoid purchasing clothing of any sort specifically made in China. Clothing is easy to find that is made in other countries that do not want to destroy the United States. The same goes for all other purchases if possible.
