It’s been a tough few months for Ron DeSantis.

Donald Trump and his allies have blasted him as “Meatball Ron,” “Ron DeSanctimonious,” a “groomer,” disloyal and a supporter of cutting entitlement programs. Now, he’s getting criticism from many mainstream conservatives for calling Russia’s invasion of Ukraine a “territorial dispute.”

Is all of this making a difference in the polls? There are signs the answer is yes.

In surveys taken since the Trump offensive began two months ago, DeSantis, the Florida governor, has steadily lost ground against Trump, whose own numbers have increased.

It can be hard to track who’s up and who’s down in the Republican race, since different pollsters have had such wildly divergent takes on Trump’s strength. In just the past few days, a CNN/SSRS poll showed a tight race, with DeSantis at 39% and Trump at 37% among registered voters, while a Morning Consult poll found Trump with nearly a 2-to-1 lead, 52% to 28%.

A challenge for you, swarthy cajun:

Without citing the fact that he is trump's potential biggest 2024 rival, please explain in detail why you do not trust ron desantis. Please give me detailed examples from his time as governor so far that makes you believe he is not to be trusted.

I wonder if Trump and DeSantis are not really friends and collaborators. Ron is tough and doesn't mind Trump throwing words at him... meanwhile, all the clowns jump on the DeSantis band wagon thinking the where there is smoke there is fire.

They get distracted with this and don't find a reasonable candidate that might have a chance to hurt Trump.

It is brilliant, if this is the correct scenario.

What if principle dictates that Trump be one’s cause for voting for him? I thought principle was supposed to be paramount?

I wish trump would lay off on attacking DeSantis. I would gladly vote for either. I don’t think Trump needs to go after him. People will rally behind him especially after this political witch hunt.

DeSantis has done a great job as governor but that does not mean executive experience running a state translates into president of the United States. For example see GWB. Good Texas governor, pretty crappy president.

The good news in terms of foreign policy DeSantis has offered a pretty reasonable position on Ukraine albeit he does leave the door open for aggressive foreign policy. On trade he is inline with the US Chamber of Commerce with his vote in congress on TPP. On the border he would likely secure the border but might be a little liberal on worker visas (which is a U.S. Chamber of Commerce position ). You may or may not like those positions but they are what they are. Vote accordingly.

Biden stole both states. Stop election rigging in 2024, and Trump wins in a landslide. We know it. You know it, and you know we know it.

Sure

Every MAGA person that's lost the last 3 years was because of a stolen election

Wisconsin certainly was. You can at least admit that, right?

They're going to turn over all that proof of the steal any day now. They just need you to "find" some votes for Trump in Georgia first. Then you'll be drowning in all that proof.
